I think the video you elude to about how games are made is a documentary called "Made for Play: Board Games & Modern Industry" and it is made by The Spiel, another podcast about games. =)

We talked about print-on-demand options: The Game Crafter, DriveThruCards, Print & Play Productions (all in the US). We also talked about a larger print run manufacturers who have a presence in the US: Liberty Playing Cards, AdMagic, and Panda Game Manufacturers. I believe Liberty prints in the US and both Panda and AdMagic have representatives in the US, but they print in China. When Jeremy Commandeur mentioned a Michigan printer around 4:00, I'm guessing he was referring to DeLano Services. I haven't had the best customer service experience with them, but I know a few people who have used them.
