I have never watched a podcast that long without skipping parts. That itself tells it all.
Interesting fact, over 40 years I’ve been called a lunatic - I know I’ll be a good fit.
I get a sense you guys are truthful. I could listen all day
I can say 100# sure what these two guys saying is true. I own fld series 60 99 mother 2.7 million on it. Greatest motor I ever had. I get better fuel mileage then 17 and 18 cascadia and I can proof it with paperwork. She is money maker and easy to work on it. Carrier most of my parts in the truck so all my maintenance. Had few dot inspections went thru like a champion. Rockwell 10 speed 3.55 in the back 24.5 tires. She is a beast at all times. Thank you for coming up this video.
Regarding shop work, "If ya want it done right ya gotta do 'er yerself..."
I never wanted to buy a truck but you guys have changed my mind
This is by far, THE BEST video on youtube. Thanks.
I’m glad I never deleted my 07 series 60 14 LT all my friends deleted still running great only one over haul between 14 yrs million seven hundred
You lost me at classic. Love the hooods

You could apply a lot of what they’re saying to classics and improve gas mileage. You won’t see no 8-9 but 7 7.5 is definitely possible which is better then 5.5-6.. also check out the video on the OPS system.. that will make a classic like a 379 last ages.
Very educational. Thank you guys.
It suck being Canadian. Thanks for your quick reply to my email Larry. Keep up the great content!
Treasure trove of information Thank you for sharing your experience
I also like a list of books to read before becoming a owner operator!
Get use to a check engine light if you pick a Volvo. Every month if not sooner, back to the dealership
The only problem with Michelin tires are they have the inner cord to close to the bead if the tire tech don’t know what he is doing it will tear the bead and you will end up having a knot come up on the tire I have had it happen to me on a Michelin x one and the tire tech showed me this when he came to replace it he sprayed the area of the bead that was torn and you could literally watch it bubble up from the air excepting from the knot on the tire
I like this Episode lots of Information. can you guys do another episode of wheel base and set forward axle and set back axles because there is few videos about that Subject of scaling a truck.
There alot of great information coming from the channel thanks guys
Your best money saving video yet. Great stuff!
All I can say is WOW!!!!
I’m 1 year late on this video . Thank you very much for the info . I
So much to learn. Thank you
Nothing wrong with a red head (N14). Great Engine, but I do love my 14L Detroit
Awesome video. Very informative!

Boy.. tons of information.. even 2 years later
This podcast was extremely eye opening. Thanks for the wealth of information you share with us!
Sounds like you need to have your own tire shop
Awesome Awesome Awesome 😎

With a 2007 or older truck you recommend with the proper fuel specs how what’s average MPG?
What filter are you running with your Fass system. Also I checked the rolling resistance of my continental hs3 seems pretty good compared to the michellins
There are several different fass companies. Do you install FASS brands or others that do the same thing? Just curious which you use (and why if you have time). I found one answer below, edited this.
I’m in PA Phildelphia to be exact, would I be able to run out of Philly? Yea fuel is high and so are tolls but I believe rates are higher?
Thank you for valuable information on you channel. How much in your opinion is reasonable to pay for older truck 2000 - 2007 Detroit 60 series 12.7 l or 14 l that you would put in your fleet in the condition that is acceptable to you? If you have a choice between 12.7 and 14, which one would you choose and why? Thank you for all your efforts educating and teaching

$10,000 to acquire it. Another $15-20,000 to get it fully modified for fuel mileage and ready to haul freight.

Personally, I like the 12.7 better than the 14.0. I’ll take either one. The 14.0 is a little more powerful, but the 12.7 can get a little better fuel mileage. They’re both wonderful engines.

Which drive train is practical for general freight in the 48 6x4 or 6x2?
What mpg. Can I expect from a Volvo w/n14 super 10 & 24.5 tires ?
Are lunatic trucks recommended 6x4 or 6x2 for additional fuel savings?
Great video, how do you guys feel about 60 series freightliner Columbia glider?
@BlueRibbonLogistics

I do not like gliders. Too difficult to find parts for. I will not operate another glider.
What kind of OPS System do you guys recommend? What about tire pressure monitor system?
@BlueRibbonLogistics
3 жыл бұрын
We use the Oil Purification System bypass. We also use TST - Truck Systems Technologies tire pressure system.
Great Video! Just saw your OPS video and ordered one from you, local shop is charging 7 hours to install it. But back to this video, I have a 2016 Coronado mid roof Factory glider with a 12.7 DDEC IV. It also has a B W 702, Full Tilt exhaust manifold, gear ratio is 3:55 with a Eaton 13 speed transmission, it has been tuned to approx. 525HP and tuned for milage. If I understand the video you recommend driving around 62MPH in 13th, on my truck that is approx. 1350 RPM, at 65 MPH the RPM is about 1425. However at 65 the truck runs quitter and smoother. What are your thoughts???
@BlueRibbonLogistics
2 жыл бұрын
It all comes down to the numbers. If you're monitoring your fuel milage by tracking every tank, you can experiment and see what's best. Get a Scan Gauge and let it teach you how to drive for fuel mileage. If you have the right tires, that setup is easily good for 8+ MPG.

@@BlueRibbonLogistics When you talk about gauge you mean torque gauge right? Any brand ?
For a used 2007 Freight-liner, what model, how many miles are you looking at and what maximum price point you suggest??? Appreciate the content .

Does landstar care if your trucks deleted? Do they check?
Awesome!
Love the channel!!!! New to trucking and soon to get my cdl-a this month. What's your opinion on the 2007 kenworth t600 or t2000 with the paccar mx13 engine? Kenworth and peterbilt stopped using the detroit diesel engines in 2001. Or should I just go with the 2000-1 model? I like either t series model but like you said the specs are what matters. Looking to get into o/o within 3years in the industry. Thank you for the help.

What's your thought on the Mercedes Motor?
@BlueRibbonLogistics
2 жыл бұрын
They only ever built ONE that was worth a shit and we own it. 1.8 million with no inframe. If it hadn’t been wrecked by our best driver, it would still be on the road. We’re going to fix it and keep running it. Avoid the Mercedes engine at all costs. It has an exhaust brake, not an engine brake. They suck. Run, don’t walk, away.
So what's your recommendation for the unlucky guy living in california? Besides moving to an other state... Any experience with a CARB complaint truck? Would be great to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks. Great content
