Hi Guys, thanks again. Along with congruence, empathy was one of the core skills in counselling that took me a good long while to understand. Having spent the last 3 decades believing you could only feel empathy after you have experienced the situation, it took me a while to realise this is a common misconception. Being able to put yourself in someone elses shoes and feel what they are feeling and see the world how they see it is having the ability to be empathetic. I now understand this, thank you!
