Episode 7 Painting the Bottom
In this episode of the Stevenson Weekender Sailboat build I finish fairing and sanding the bottom of the boat. I'll then get the bottom painted before I flip the boat back over right side up.
I'm using 2 to 1 High Performance Epoxy from TotalBoat with slow hardener.
The paint I will use in this video is white Krypton Bottom paint also from TotalBoat. The first two coats are thinned about 7% with the recommended thinning agent also from TotalBoat. I did not thin the 3rd coat and I really couldn't tell much of a difference in the roller marks.
This is my first time building a boat. I'm a do-it-yourself guy and don't claim to be an expert. I love creating new things and learning new skills.
The plans for this boat can be purchased at www.stevproj.com.

Sweet! Looking awesome. The fiberglassing was not at all what I expected. For some reason I was picturing smaller pieces in multiple overlapping layers. The paint looks great. Are you going to use some sort of keel guard?

Thanks. I probably won’t put on a keel guard at first. I’ll see how it goes and if it seems to get damaged easily, then I may later.
