Episode 63 Hanging With Matt White

My guest for this episode is Matt White.
Matt walks the road less traveled. His creative approach to harmony and mastery of the entire range of the trumpet makes Matt a consummate improviser. His arranging and compositional skills have earned him numerous accolades, including Matt being named a Guggenheim Fellow in Music Composition. And his willingness to question the status quo of trumpet pedagogy makes him an educational maverick.
Check out what Mike has to say about the Augie Hass years, using technology as a tool for creativity, pushing the creative envelope, non-trumpet influences, the one thing he wants his students to learn, the biggest changes needed in music education, updating collegiate trumpet curriculum, tips on improvising, the importance of space, an anecdote from Ron Carter, working with Steve Bailey and Victor Wooten, and so much more!
So pour yourself a big glass, pull up a chair, and let the hang begin!
