Episode 5 Sorting out the Cooling on the '63 Turbo WBX Bug
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
After last week's tuning session ended in a cloud of steam, I go through the cooling system, fixing leaks and adjusting pipes before refilling and going for another test drive.
But does it all work properly?
If you're enjoying these vids, I'd love it if you would buy me a coffee. Thank you!

Glad to see you're having fun with Marco's beast! Regarding the cooling system, i've found running a header tank up front above the rad in addition to one in the rear works really well. Filling the system just requires topping up both ends and i've never had any issues with air pockets. Look forward to more videos :)

Yeah, definitely having fun! It's finally running properly (well, close to it anyway) and now I'm at the stage where all I need to do is fettle and refine things rather than big stuff. Good idea about the header tank at the front too. That shouldn't be too hard to do either - it's got a short length of hose with a bleed valve on it at the radiator so a header tank could just go there. As it is, I'm happy that it's sorted now and I think I've worked out the way to bleed it effectively too. Marco suggested the vacuum bleeder/filler thing and it works a treat. My Mexi is getting some attention at the moment so the next few vids are about that, but I'll be back on the '63 soon :)
I need to hear that monster not in fast forward , wow !

Hey! Nice video! I’m just wondering what size of copper pipe is being used for your coolant system under the car. Is it 22mm? Does it run the entire length from front to back? Many thanks, Dan (from Hazzard).

Hi, they're 36 or 38mm (I can't recall exactly which) copper pipes running the full length, with silicone couplers and bends. The radiator is a Mk2 Golf gti one with an electric fan behind it and there's just one small cutout in the front valance. Once I got all the bleed problems and other issues sorted it works really well, driving through very heavy traffic for an hour without overheating. It's a pig to bleed properly without the vacuum tool though!
