Episode 46: Capt. Keith Tibbetts Wreck, Cayman Brac

The Capt. Keith Tibbetts is the only Russian warship in the Western Hemisphere that is within recreational diving limits. It served as a missile frigate in the Russian navy for years before being intentionally sunk off the north coast of Cayman Brac in 1996. Although the superstructure is beginning to collapse, it remains an impressive site with the bottom of its bow sitting in sand at 110 feet and jutting out over the drop-off. The top deck is at 40 feet, so it is a great multi-level dive.

Back in 1976, I was on Cayman Brac, staying at one of the Inn's I see now has been abandoned & that makes me sad, because it was such a beautiful place to stay at, but with hurricane's & of course the financial mess all over the world, things do change. It is a nice looking dive, no matter what ship it is.
