Absolutely gorgeous alpine bloom sweater Kathy. Love the colour palette and twisted rib. Your beret is awesome too! Finishing my morning coffee off and then will be purchasing yarn for both projects. Thank you for the inspiration.

Your Alpine Bloom is a triumph! I like the long sleeves and I think the dark navy was worth it....terrific color combo. All the yarn surrounding you is gorgeous---beautiful colors. All that about color, and I'm working on an Ilha sweater (on the 2nd sleeve) in a light grey alpaca held with mohair.

The colors of your Alpine Bloom are stunning and suit you so well! ❤❤❤ The Stalk & Pip Beret fits you perfectly. I knitted the Timepiece cardigan from the same designer. I wear it very often and am not tired of it.

I used a yarn made in Quebec called Frise & Bouclettes in a natural grey color. It's a DK yarn (325y/4oz) made of 50% East Friesan + 25% Mohair + 25% Rambouillet. I should add my project in Ravelry...@@northwestknitting5993

Oh, you are right! I love that color, but not sure I have enough for a cardigan. I saw it made up into a gorgeous shawl in a store and only bought enough for that, darn it.

Hi Cathy, I really enjoyed your podcast today, I think I was one of the first people to watch after you posted it. Your Alpine Bloom is gorgeous! I love watching your videos because you and I have similar colour preferences and tastes in knitwear. Love the beret& just looked up the pattern as I have some special lilac alpaca that would be perfect for that. I have the Calliope pattern and long to make it in a mint green or pale peach colour way. Thanks for the inspiration on a grey day in southern Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 ❤❤

Beautiful sweater. The gradient looks lovely in the color work. I am also knitting the Calliope sweater! I just love the pattern too. I found the short rows tricky at first, but I’m a big believer in just following the pattern as-is. I’m about halfway through the body. The only modification I have planned is to eliminate the sleeve decreases so it lays as more of a bell sleeve. I’m using Isager Alpaca 1 and 2 held double. Loving the yarn! Super lightweight, which makes a perfect sweater for Florida (where I live). I don’t have much on my project page as of now, but my Ravelry is Macayla7.

Your Alpine Bloom is so pretty. I've been thinking that it may be my next cast-on....or the Autumn Alpine. I've stalled on a mystery yoke-along sweater, and I'm not sure I'll continue...the yarn could be used for the Autumn Alpine. I hesitate to frog the sweater, as I've finished the body and half a sleeve...we'll see. I've picked up my Jennifer Beale sweater...meant to be part of a long-time KAL, but it's so enjoyable, I think I'll make it my main project...it's called Juniper Brook. When you mentioned the Calliope, it reminded me that I have pretty Spring green yarn put aside for that one 😊. As for knitting a Beret...I'd love to knit that pattern, but I have quite a large head 🙄😄...maybe I'd need to fuss with a pattern to get a bigger size

Thanks, Sandra! It's hard to give up on a project when you are so far into it, but I'm thinking of abandoning a vest I've working on (as I mentioned in the video) and setting myself free! That Juniper Brook pattern is unusual. Very interesting! I've had La Manche in my favorites for a long time. I just saw a Calliope in a spring green and it made my heart sing! You're so lucky you look good in green.

I agree with you 100% about yoke sweaters. I have the same issues. I understand why I have the issue and it’s just the nature of the garment. I prefer Barbara Walker’s method of top down, set in sleeve knitting better. And you can do all over color work using the method just like a yoke sweater, but it fits your shoulders

I am on Calliopes #5&6 , the short rows are not at all difficult, but you are also doing raglan increases at the same time. If you just follow the instructions it will be fine. On one section of the short rows you increase on the purl side and another section the increases are on the knit side. Good luck. Looking forward to seeing your version.

I've finished the short rows, and you are right, they were quite straightforward. Working them with the raglan increases is a nice design feature. I'm looking forward to seeing how the sweater fits.

Your finished sweater is lovely! I like the way the contrast skein's colors progress. I've just finished the Stars of barber by Maja Akerstrom. The main color was a dark charcoal natural color. Luckily I had no trouble with knitting on that dark color.
