    I have a little hack for beginnings trying to rip putters. I found this out by accident about a year ago. 1) shorten your approach. 1 or 2 steps max for a putter throw (you aren't hucking it 350 like JC here) 2) place your throwing forearm in front of you such that it is perfectly parallel; your forearm, bicep and chest should form 3 sides of a perfect square. 3) place the putter in your standard power grip 4) aim the putter down at 5-10 degrees hyzer depending how flippy it is 5) DO NOT do a full pull through; do your 1-2 step walkup while looking at your disc Steps 1-5 allowed me to get quite consistent 175-250 putter throws, some bone straight the entire way! The one caveat to this is that you can definitely incorporate full power putter throws like James does, or even power down further just to get 100-150ft on your putter. Mine is just for that sweet spot of hole distance.

    Hey!!!! James got the line in before Paul could add it at the end haha. Getting closer every time. Great tips. I need to take that advise and do more only putter rounds. Used to do them a lot a few years ago, but got away from it. Once I found 3 throwing putters I liked : Over || Stable || Under : and realized I could throw them like 300ft if need be... it exploded my brain and changed my game. Knowing that there's such a small difference in distance 300' vs 400' (talking actual golf shots) between putter and driver really makes you focus more on control and feel. Sometimes a putter is needed for a 300' shot, while a fairway driver is needed for a 200' one. Or even a massively overstable distance driver for a 150' flare ground skip. I think it all starts with bombing a putter though. Great work Paul, and thanks James. Nice job last tourney by the way. Apparently C-Dick is just unstoppable right now. Luckily for you guys winter and Santa will put an end to his reign. Although he might be prepping with that beard, and the "Sunday Plaid" is quite festive. So y'all might be in for some trouble next year too.

    Before the pandemic, a few friend and I would get together every week at someone’s house, grab 5 putters and some beers and basically play HORSE with our putters. The goal was to come up with some crazy stances or obstructed lies and have to rely on soft anhyzers, turbo putts, or whatever in order to make the putt. You had 5 chances and whoever made the most would win the round. Doing that regularly improved our short game IMMENSELY out on the course because you felt like you’ve already practiced pretty much every lie conceivable and had a shot ready for it.

  • @smtx11

    I will try to answer those for ya. You approach them very bouncy, and get the distance by being a James. Or like he said, angle control. I prefer to think any bouncy James can do it, that makes me feel better. Cause I'm not a James, and am only sometimes bouncy.

    thanks. what situations call for different nose angles? will a putter flip more if it is nose down, since it is hypothetically moving a little faster compared to a nose up, decelerating shot?

  • @micah_lee

    @micah_lee

    3 жыл бұрын

    A nose up shot never really tends to roll fully over like a nose flat shot (Nose down is ment as like putt the nose down from nose up rather than actually pointing the nose down. It never actually should be nose down relative to flat ground.) It depends on how nose up it is though. I’d suggest taking flippy putters and messing with them a lot. A. it is extremely fun B. you don’t need much room for it and C. you get better at throwing. You would mess with different nose angles by manipulating the plant at which your arms pulls on.

  • @micah_lee

    @micah_lee

    3 жыл бұрын

    I use slight nose up shots to get the disc to go straight and drop down on shorter distances. Also if you watch the Myrtle Beach coverage Chris Dickerson has been throwing nose up approaches (on a few holes on the front nine of one of the rounds, I forget which. Maybe round 1)

  • @jaholden4

    @jaholden4

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@micah_lee yeah i usually do a little bit of nose up when I use a putter for approach shots, this normally gets me a straight/slowly fading flight. Definitely have to practice throwing putters nose down (flat) for more distance and see how much they flip.

  • @TylerHumphrey05

    3 жыл бұрын

    i don't know the answer to your question but I remember having trouble throwing putters forehand. Uli put out a video talking about putting as much rotation on it as possible and now it's super easy to throw a putter forehand with almost 0 flutter. aiming is another thing. But i think the same can go for backhand, focusing on getting maximum rotation on it. you're also probably going to wanna use a stable putter and flip it up. if you use a fan grip i dont think you get as much rotation since you're spinning it closer to it's fulcrum? the center. i was playing around with fan grips and have since moved to power grips for most situations except putting of course and i like it
