Episode 30 Cannabis and ADHD

In Episode 30, the ADHD adults James and Alex discuss the 'really difficult to talk about without incriminating themselves' subject of cannabis use and ADHD. As usual, the podcast contains Alex's psychoeducation on the subject (about all he could manage this episode), personal reflections (DEFINITELY not from us) on cannabis use in ADHD and an awful attempt at some 'Top Tips' is half-heartedly made. 'What did James lose this week?" returns, will Alex finally become 'above average' at it? Alex continues to get communication from Kidderminster and from real listeners and welcomes some far-flung listeners as well. Alex visits museums in Amsterdam and James has a 'friend' who provides the personal reflection bits.

Thanks again chaps. This is a difficult topic to discuss but a friend of mine also has experience with cannabis and has these tips to share: Cannabis can make ADHD some symptoms, but developing habits as a second nature to cope in this state of mind can help you even when you are no longer under the influence. For example imagine you are the guy from Memento and write down on paper or a list on your phone everything that you don't want to forget. Put things back in the same place when not in use so you never have to look for it. If you feel guilty about taking time out to enjoy a break, unload that it by making a list of all the things you should be doing instead and if any task seems insurmountable, break it down into all the individual steps until you get bored of doing that. You can also use your anxiety to guilt yourself into achieving things on your list. When you inevitably find your list in a few weeks while you are looking for something else you can cross off any things on it you happened to do anyway and congratulate yourself. Vaping allows for more clinical accuracy in THC dosage and shorter timespan for it to wear off. Edibles have a much higher error margin in dosing. To avoid munchies, eat something substantial before smoking or vaping. Definitely don't allow yourself to get the munchies with nothing but edibles to hand.

Some years ago a London hospital offered me a trial on cannabis spray for adhd, I didn’t take it up but there will probably be info on effects and the stats if it did or not help.

I'm convinced big pharmaceutical companies are obstructing research with the help of politicians and police commissioners.......Cannabis is the only reason I am still alive. From the age of about 6 my adhd symptoms were off the scale. As a young adult the only cerenity and relief for me, sleep, anxiety, depression, anger and rage were all eased very much when Mary Joanna was and is present.

I have diagnosed ADHD but unmedicated. Husband doesn't have ADHD. He likes taking recreational speed. I don't see the point and it does nothing for me. I prefer weed and can continue to function, clean and cook on weed. While he just wants to vegetate regardless of strain. Other week he was on speed, I had a bong. He was 100mph talking amd rambling ideas, let's go here, let's go there, let's buy this, have you heard about so and so at work, let's decorate bedroom. I had to say SLOW THE FUCK DOWN. Made me realise the way his brain was working and random ideas coming out of his mouth on speed is the way my brain works day to day sober. Light bulb moment. Side note. I can only tolerate tiny amount of satvia as gives me terrible paranoia. Hybrid and LOADS of cold Fanta works best for me.

I'm convinced that the right sativa dominant hybrid strain, grown organically ( minus the chem nutrients) is really helpful.....Sour Tangie from personal experience was very helpful.......miles more helpful and effective than METHYLPHENIDATE...for me personally anyhow.

I do a 1/2 puff off of a vape of sativa and I am good for the evening. But yes, any more than that and I spiral. Next thing you know and the dishes are done, floor is washed, laundry is folded and I feel like I actually accomplished enough to allow myself relax and not have the lingering guilt. It also grounds me so I can actually feel feelings and even consider others feelings. Wild stuff.
