Episode#26 Tunisia Market & Medina
Some of the Best produce we've ever purchased on our trip so far. We venture into the small town of "Bouficha". There really is not a lot there until every Saturday morning there is a market where locals come from miles around to purchase just about any goods you can think of. Oh and WATCH OUT for the "fresh" chickens that you might like to buy....No salmonella here!
Hammamet is the main town near Port Yasmine Marina. The reported number of inhabitants varies from 100,000 to 400,000 and the population quadruples due to tourists' arrival in the summer. We also visit the world famous Madina built around the 15th Century.
Special mention and thanks must go to Peter Chilton who is a wealth of knowledge about Tunisia and in particular this area where we are staying.
We hope you enjoy this video.
Grace, peace and fair winds.

There's a world war II cemetery not far from there (at the town of Enfidha) with a New Zealand quarter.

Hi Leanne, while we would never treat animals in the same way, this is a cultural thing and there are many Tunisian’s who do things differently. Some have said the answer is with education, some people have moved there and show the Tunisian’s by example. The people are amazing and beautiful people, the country is fantastic and we would love to return one day.
