I'm in southern Ontario and was lucky enough to just travel to my backyard for totality. I'm out in the country, so something I didn't expect was to hear a nearby rooster crowing in confusion 😀

Wow, was I wrong! My granddaughter said Taylor Swift was singing about a baby, and the KZread shorts named it differently! I love the album, we drove around today with it loud and singing along! Went to Hobby Lobby and Starbucks!

I'm so glad you got to see the eclipse. It was so incredible to see in real life and I've been so shocked at how many people in my life were "ehhh" about it and didn't go to see totality. I know the traffic was insane and not everyone can do that. It was just so, so worth it. I can't put into words how amazing it was.

I started doing a backwards loop increase rather than a M1R and M1L for my Musselburghs and it changed my knitting life! It significantly diminishes the fiddly factor when working with small needles and fingering weight yarn. Your hat (and all of your work) is gorgeous 😍

I'm doing the same thing with a cardigan. I'm using a yarn where you can't really tell what stitch is used so I figured I'd make life easier for myself and just use backwards loop cast ons instead of M1L & M1R, and it's totally been worth it for less fuss and the speed in getting to the arm separation.

Did you see that Always Be Kind yarn is doing a colorway for the new Taylor Swift album? I can't remember who it was, but I saw a knitter who would cast on their Musselburgh with a provisional cast-on, knit the long tube and decrease the opposite end and then go back and decrease the cast-on end....that way there was no fiddly pinhole cast-on, just decreases on both ends. Haven't tried it yet, but it seemed pretty cool!

Instead of cutting the yarn on the second 50 grams, stop using the first one where the new color on the second one picks up. And you can always use the leftovers for the decreases if necessary.

I am with you about JK. I love me some Harry Potter but she needs to just shut up. For real. I'm glad you went to see the eclipse! We saw it from the playground at school (West Michigan) and it was so fun. The kids loved it and thought it was kind of spooky how chilly it got with only that little sliver of the sun showing. The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is SO GOOD. The book and the movie. My all time favorite series behind Harry Potter.

Good morning Michigan. Morning pleasantries Lisa. O my. Right off the bat, those vintage Christmas socks were the best in show today for me. The greens and peachy colors really stands out.The browns as well. You picked a great color way Lisa. Simply sock company in Indiana where I'm from has lots of Opal. Looked before I started writing and they didn't have the Joy color way. You didn't mention how much coverage of the moon over the sun. Oh well, glad you and your family enjoyed the trip. I could never at my age (69) take a car ride for that long of time. I'm about 1/4 in inches on my scrappy granny stripe blanket meaning 15 inches. Total will be 60. Perhaps one day we could all see you knitting. That would be a treat. Take care. many blessings. Prayers for rain ☔

I was like you in that I would have rather stayed at home. But unlike you, I could have skipped it and watched it on tv or my laptop. My husband loved every minute and he probably won’t get the chance for 2044, so I’m glad he was able to see it. The dogs were pretty oblivious to it all even though I heard that it could affect the dogs. They were barking at the neighbors who came out to see it, so we put them inside. I did hear some birds but it was quieter.
