    i'm a beginner, and i'm scouring the internet for information and i do have a question/confirmation. If you are moving the shutter speed up you are stopping the motion at a given point, what if you want to keep some blur. Hypothetical, not sure if i'd like a blur or not but it would depend on the motion and sport i'm taking pictures of. Are there other options to adjust to get a little blur and still have a sharp picture?

    Thinking of using my canon 850 d cropped body to shoot indoor volleyball, my 6d with 100-400mm lens is just not producing the pics I want, I have tried multiple modes and tips with a monopod and just not achieving clear pics with the right lighting or speed. Do you shoot indoor sports with one shot instead of continuous??

    Hello, thank you for this video, really helpful tips! I have a question. I have the cannon eos rebel t7. I am unable to get my aperture to the 2.8, it will only go to 4.5 with the setting you suggest. What can I do? I'm shooting my nephews basketball ball games for his school and i want to do a great job for him, I'm very amateur so any tips will be appreciated as far as what the other setting should be too. Some of the settings you mentioned here are not shown on my model or maybe they are called something else and I'm just ignorant of the names. Thanks in advance!

    Not sure if you're still responding to posts but, I have a 7D (no mark) and I use very similar setting and I struggle with grain in a bad way. I get some pictures that are crisp(ish) where you can see details of hair and shoe laces clearly, but the grain is horrible (very visible) on the skin, clothing and background. This can be corrected in photoshop, however there is a loss of photo quality. So, either I'm still doing something wrong or my camera just sucks. I'll try your setting tomorrow night and I'll return with an update (hopefully).

    Hi Travis, You appear to double the Shutter Speed if indoor images are too bright, why not decrease the ISO instead to prevent noise? Also at f/2.8 would you not get images out of focus due to the shallow DOF? Thanks.

  • @travisbellcreative

    @travisbellcreative

    3 ай бұрын

    If it's sports photography, it's better to double the shutter speed so the camera will freeze the action. F 2.8 is perfect for sports. The goal is for the players(s) to be sharp and the background to be as soft as possible. This picture I made of Kobe Bryant blocking Lebron James is a perfect example. www.travisbellphotography.com/index/G0000FwKA_kghaWg/I00002LfztIg_jg4
