Episode 2 - Brick By Brick | Renovating Our Bulgarian Village House

Ойын-сауық

Guess who's back, back again...... sorry for such a long time between releases guys, we've been snowed under with 2 children's birthday parties and with many other things cropping up.
In this episode, Jordan gets to work on restoring those old wooden windows on the annex, Lewis gives canning/preserving a go for the very first time, we finally complete the floor in the annex wet room, and we begin renovating what will one day become the lounge, exposing a beautiful brick feature wall!
Thank you for supporting us. We are so grateful for all of you.
Please leave us some comments below as always guys!

For upstairs floors that are settled mud and uneven beams. Buy some bags of polystyrene balls and add to the concrete. It will be very light. It's like honeycomb. Good sound and insulation properties. But the more you try and level it, the more the polystyrene rises to the surface. But works a treat. Can't hear the other half shouting at me from upstairs 😂

Thanks for your comment! Glad you've enjoyed watching us. There's plenty more to come. We're just in England at the moment after attending a friend's wedding. Once we return back to Bulgaria, we'll get the next episode out 😊

Might be a good idea to put some small pieces of rebar in those places your patching to give extra strength

Tileing looks good. I may have built a littel step out of cement between the two walls entering the shower about 4 inches or so high laid the tiles to the left then tiled top and sides of littel step then all the tiles would have been flush other wise looks good.

Mate I think you are in Bulgaria for 2 years now and the amount of words you know is equal of what I learn before I go abroad for a week. You need to expand your vocabulary. Put sticky note on everything in your home with its name in Bulgarian. On the table, on the fridge, on the bed, on the wardrobe, on the cupboard, on the bedside lamp, on the curtain, on the window, on the teacup - on everything. And when you open the refrigerator, say out loud the word for refrigerator in Bulgarian. And do so by being next to each of the items with a sticky note. Put different fruits and veggies on the table and smack a sticky note on each every single one of them. Make a sticky note madness. I think that in this way, if the words are constantly in front of your eyes, it will be easier for you to learn. Even if you get the gender of the words wrong, no one will care once they see you're making a real effort. Just learn as many words as you can. Many foreigners who come to Bulgaria make the mistake of not learning the language. They isolate themselves, do not communicate with anyone, do not make friendships, they just work and fix their house, but after 4-5 years they return to their countries because mentally they cannot stand it. Humans are social creatures and we need to communicate. Even if it's just to complain about how hot it is or that the tomato is sick and ask the neighbor for advice.

Honestly, if I sit there and tell you every bulgarian word, I know who's sticking around for the youtube episode? We have to be realistic with what we share, durations, timings etc. We have conversations with locals, it's no problem, we're not struggling and it's absolutely fine. We can communicate great. This episode isn't a Bulgarian lesson for people it's just awnsering a question withing 3 minutes bud 😊.

We have to re-render the entire house, and here they insulate from the outside, not the inside, so we will apply foam boards to the outside of the house then render over it. 😀

Thought this channel looked promising when I came across your initial moving video. Watched a few more, and tbh it seems like you haven't achieved much, you are wasting too much time doing pointless tasks. Maybe consider using an image stabilizer, the camera shaking is quite annoying. Also the patreon begging is a bit much. Good luck with you future goals, but I won't be watching anymore.

@johncrabtree7709 What did you expect? The Kardashians? It's the journey of 4 people moving to rural Bulgaria and renovating a property, not to Las Vegas to earn 100k playing poker, to pay off a debt to a Russian mobster... I'm sure most of us, watching/supporting this couple and their content appreciate the realness of it all and the very fact that the content is unscripted.
