As a former US Navy Submariner, I’ve always been fascinated with these boats and would have loved to go out to sea on one to see what it’s like. I respect all submariners from all countries. Our countries may be enemies at times, but no submariner will ever be my enemy! Regardless of the country, all submariners are brothers!!

It's good to see a healthy respect for Russian war vessels from an American sailor, because clearly you would be in real trouble if these Russian vessels came at you. In 1962, a Russian submarine Commander spared an American destroyer from imminent destruction from a stealth torpedo during the Cuban missile crisis.

I must say as the son of an Australian submariner I have huge respect for these elite sailors and for us to see a Russian akula is a very special treat I have a love and fondness of everything Russian and the Russian culture is marvellous I must say thankyou for this amazing work and to the sailors of the Russian navy may the wind be always at you back and may the sun shine upon you always respect

Very impressive ships, creaking of snow gives interesting feeling of relaxation but also power of this machines. I hope Northern fleet soldiers to commanders don't starve food like they used to. They can feed them with nationalistic pride only for much longer, both need a lot more. I red a book about it quite some time ago so i guess they finally did it, they are out comrades after all. As we speak of nuclear submarines, don't forget we have to go full nuclear to produce power for civilians to survive a bit longer. Weather has changed so much already it should be done years ago if it wasn't already too late, not in the near future.

No calculation or measurements given without blue print and schematics they won't be able to do much. They don't really show the important parts of the ship like the propeller the engine and control's display are blurred.

Well I'd be a little nervous sitting in a submarine full of extremely delicate torpedoes that could go off internally at any moment. Remember, it was a torpedo that destroyed that one in 2000: it had a cheaper, more volatile propellant installed which was set off by something. I hope for the sake of these crews that they have since upgraded their arsenal... And lets not forget the often poor maintenance of these boats. This has been the bane of the existence of both American and Russian submarines (the American subs of the late 60's were outdated and very poorly maintained, leading to some famous disasters of the period).

I read that there was a defective torpedo on Kursk. A batch of ten was rejected, and the command ordered the return of all combat torpedoes of that batch to the plant, but only 9 torpedoes were combat, and one was training. Due to the wording of the order, the defective training torpedo remained and was used.

Interesting show. But the disaster of the Kursk underlines the underlying technical and political issues that plague the Russian military. Though brave soldiers, Sailors, and airmen they are, their leaders don't have their back. And that would cost them dearly in a shooting war with the West.

Under Yeltsin Gorby and Breznev Russia was a western vassal state that became a capitalists dream with the privatization of military, gas oil etc until Putin came to power and removed most of the oligarchs that had control of the nation.. since 2000 Putin has reformed the military to what it is today, entrenched religion in law and raised the living standard dispite US illegal sanctions. Thanks to Putin Russia has stood tall since that fateful visit by Clinton who was out to bring Russia to her knees...

Почему у подводников особенно у капитана такой не здоровый вид? Избыточный вес и черные круги под глазами. Внутренняя отделка(под дерево) поодлодки при пожаре будет источать токсины. Интерьер подлодок США гораздо более продуман и эргономичен. Бравады в этом ролике 80%.

What I am saying is that Russians should not forget their Mexican friends if their is a conflict between NATO and Russia. Germany promised to help return territory Mexico lost in the US Mexican War, in the lead up to World War 1. The Mexican government was a staunch US ally in WW2 and had declared war on Germany. They sent a squadron of fighters to fight Japan and cooperated with the US patrolling the Gulf of Mexico for German U-Boats. Thousands of Mexican citizens on work Visas in the US were drafted into the US Army and thousands more volunteered for US military service.
