Beautiful work with the plant. Also, quick question, my epiphyllum was growing straight up for 2 years without any trouble and suddenly the leaves started to fall one by one, how do I keep them straight up again? should I cut the leaves and re-plant them?

I would cut back all the floppy growth and probably just discard it bc it will never growth strong again. Check this video for more of a detailed look FLOWERING ORCHID CACTUS - Epiphyllum & Disocactus Growing Tips to Get Orchid Cactus to Bloom kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZZ2usppqYNfJcc4.html

Great info. My orchid cactus just finished blooming and this year it was spectular! Do I wait for flowers to drop or do I remove them? Also would you fertilizer now and rest it in dark garage for a few weeks and then bring it indoors in the fall as I normally would. Thx again.

I would wait to fertilize next spring! Leave it outside until weather drops to 45 or so. And yes remove spent flowers now

First of all this is an excellent video. I do have a question that you might be able to assist me with. I live in Pennsylvania and I brought in my plant inside (Queen of the night). I noticed that there is a thick straw like branch grew from the plant. It’s about 3 feet long now. I have no idea what it is? Can you help? I wish I can send some pics. Thanks.

thanks for watching! yes sometimes they do that. im not totally sure of the purpose of them but mine creates them too. so don't worry. you can leave it or cut it off if the appears bugs you, it won't harm the plant at all

This plant is beautiful! How do you get it to grow upright like this. I have large one but it’s leggy and hanging down. Flowers beautifully (red) but the plant is not as attractive.

It really depends on the species, some are more floppy than others. But the key is to provide ample light with water. Insufficient light with lots of water will create floppier growth

Thank you. I’m going to try to prune mine back and pot the pieces. I was afraid to cut it back for fear of it not blooming. Thank you for your videos I’ve learn a lot.

typically thats a sign of stress (not necessarily a bad thing) from lots of sun or lots of cold. providing a more temperate situation will bring back rich greenness

How does your Epiphyllum stand straight up? Mine doesn't do that.

Some species are more upright than others. But if growth is excessively floppy I’d recommend cutting back on water and fertilizer. Water in winter will lead to weak growth
