Great information! The support group I am a part of is called, 'Coping With Laryngomalacia, Inc.' They assist parents of children with Laryngomalacia, Bronchomalacia or Tracheomalacia. They help us parents and bring attention to this birth defect and the Malacia community! 💙 My son was born with severe Laryngomalacia and a Stage 3 Laryngeal Cleft. He went misdiagnosed for the first 16 months of his life. He aspirated the ENTIRE time. He also had recurrent croup. It was a LONG 2 years... He is 12 years old now and thriving! I never want another parent or child to go through what we did!

For your information, throat cultures and visual inspection of the inner mouth and throat are contraindicated in epilottis because it can cause laryngospasms, which can lead to complete obstructions. If really needed, the throat culture is only be done by a person who can immediate intubate the patient.

I had epiglottitis in August due to a staph infection. I surprised the specialist when she came into the room and I was lying down. I was in the ICU for 12 days. 11 of those days where spent with a breathing tube and feeding tube. When they were putting my tube in the swelling was so bad, I had a paediatric sized tube to help me breath. If you get some of these symptoms, please go to the er, and make sure they assess your airway. If they wouldn't of called me back to the hospital I would be dead!

@Xavier Rodriguez what was your diagnosis? I hope you were ok. My daughter almost died from undiagnosed Epiglottitis and I remember I could see a shiny white plate in the back of her throat like you described

I have problems with my epiglottis but was told it’s acid reflux burns and I’ve had it for 6months now, I went to and ENT where they put a camera down my throat and looked at it and told me it was a normal looking epiglottis.. however I have uncomfort feelings in my throat with it X

I was wondering what causes the epiglottis to get stuck open when drinking liquids. This has led to pneumonia before. Is that a feature of acid reflux? I really notice it when singing (distorted tone in the 4th octave) and the doctor said that my arytenoids looked red and raw but didn't comment on the epiglottis. Breathing is quiet, but I often have a dry cough through the night, drool a lot, and get woken up thinking I'm choking on something.

Ok, I have epiglottitis in 2021 when I had colds during the covid pandemic, but I'm not too sure because I don't know what it was for 3 or 5 months, I don't smoke and I don't drink alcohol so those aren't the causes, now that it's still here I began to worry so I searched parts of tongue and found epiglottis, and then just found out about epiglottitis, hospitalization is not an option now that covid19 is banning the travel, the nearest hospital is very far so I'm looking for home remedies that can lessen the swell, or if it is infected looking for some specific antibiotics, (For some reason my self curing father doesn't know about epiglottitis and just poked with a needle releasing the yellow thing on the epiglottis, he seems to be fine but I'm not doing it) Edit: Also I forgot to add that I have no problem breathing seems like the epiglottitis is small or acute but I don't know if it will grow bigger)

@@MaricrisConde I'm actually doing fine, the infection became smaller after took antibiotics It look exactly like the epiglottis on Google images but it might just be an infection caused by bacteria after I fish bone injured that part of my mouth

It's crazy I'm going through this right now having trouble swallowing and drowning through the night and everytime I swallow it feels like I gulp when I swallow like for real I'm definitely get on these doctors to do there Damn Job cause it's some doctors out here don't take people serious when people come to them
