I watched this live during the original Omega Alive concert when it happened, almost 2 years ago... I knew the song because it had already been released as a video (not acapella) and yet this version is stunning.

Simone has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard! Clearly the Majority prefers Floor and I understand them, but for me Simone is very special, she has a unique timbre! Someone recently commented in another reaction video about Sancta Terra that Simone couldn't be a Valkyrie like Floor, that she had no "stage presence"! I replied: Floor will be a Valkyrie, but Simone is Aphrodite!... Your comparison with Venus is excellent! Thank you❤. Continue with your journey through Epica after recovering from this, I leave you some suggestions: Tides of Time, Unleashed, Cry for the Moon, Feint and the one that follows after this "Once upon a Nightmare". I love Nightwish, but to me they are the entry ticket to Epica. The complexity of their music and lyrics are out of this world. There a many reasons to be happy to live in Belgium, but to be so close to the most amazing metal bands in the world is high up there. Graspop 2023 is almost upon us and I'll be there to sing as loud as I can to Epica and all the other great bands.

This whole concert (Omega Alive) is incredible. I have it on Blu-Ray. Your 'usual' pronunciation of her name is perfectly fine, I think. The Dutch pronunciation of Simone is closer to See-Moe-Nuh. (no 'ay' sound at the end)

You should watch the song before this one in the show as well "Once Upon a Nightmare - Omega Alive", absolutely gorgeous! That said, every Epica song is worth checking out, they don't have a bad song, just very, very good or extremely mindblowing:)

I believe "Once Upon a Nightmare" comes just after this, not before. Either way, I second that recommendation! I think it's one of the few songs where removing the orchestra made it sound better and more haunting.

Yes....there is something in the water in the Netherlands... It produces such powerhouses like: Floor Jansen, Simone Simons, Anneke van Giersbergen, Sharon Janny den Adel (Within Temptation), Charlotte Wessels (ex Delain), etc, etc... Epica and Nightwish could be described like twins. Epica is the darker and heavier part in my opinion. This will be another rabbit hole, if you dive deeper into their music.

Can't miss with any of the songs of that virtual concert 🤘🏻. Rivers is one of my all-time favourites. Also, I suggest you listen to Epica Sirens - Of Blood and Water. It's featuring Charlotte Wessels, another great Dutch vocalist (formerly Delain, another Dutch Symphonic Metal band), and Myrkur, a Danish vocalist known for both Black Metal and Folk music. Their performance is mind-blowing 🖤! Another great virtual concert done last year was by Within Temptation, another Dutch Symphonic/Gothic metal band.

Great reaction again! I saw this song live with Apocalyptica (three badass cello players) and the whole band! I had goosebumps from my little toe till the top of my head!

Nice! I haven' t heard this version before. I remember them from back in 2003/2004 when I was a sound engineer with a metalband that was one of their support acts in several club shows. The band has grown enormously sinds then. Great musicians and very nice, just like all metalfans :-)!

I would recommend you visit Anneke van Girsbergen, the “mother” of Dutch female vocalists and the inspiration for Floor. Start with “Travel” by The Gathering at their 25th anniversary show.

I would like to see a concert just with Floor, Simone, and Lindsey Stirling. These two extraterrestrial voices paired with Lindsey's magic violin must simply be an artistic delight.

Yes, Simone can match floor indeed. I even prefer that cystal clear soprano sound from Simone, just my personal taste.

Epica with the metal part can be quite a bit harder and darker. The male vocals are very harsh. This is used in contrast to Simone's (See-mow-nuh) beautiful angelic voice. There's also many songs that feature mostly Simone's voice as lead vocals though. Despite the harsh vocals, their lyrics are often very meaningful, empowering and uplifting. This Omega Alive concert was their pandemic concert stream. In my opinion there is a big problem with saying "she/he is the best". I think this depends on what voice touches you the most. I love Simone's voice, it is a really beautiful, clear and rich soprano, and I am very much looking forward to her solo album - it is already on my wishlist. But there are voices that touch me more, touch my heart and soul in a way Simone's voice does not. This in my opinion is a matter of personal taste. Therefore I am careful with saying "she/he is the best".

genuine women's day song, MaYaN - Dhyana, ballad, 4 women, 2 singers, acoustic guitar and chello MaYaN (symphonic death metal) is Epicas sister band, founded by Mark Jansen to quench his thirst for death metal, first members were mostly from Epica .. also very first singers were Floor and Simone but not on this one

Ok, so ... Her name is a little bit tricky to explain. It's basically three distinct syllables: See-moan-uh. The emphasis is on the second syllable, and the 'uh' trails off and is barely pronounced, like a half syllable. Her last name, Simons, is like see-mons, with the emphasis on the first syllable.

It's like a national anthem......but than some sort of national anthem of HEAVEN??? One of those terribly rare songs where, from 00:00 till the very end, breathe is taken away... Deb, you should check this interview on Floor's channel with Simone...........baaaeee!

Please do more Epica! "Kingdom of Heaven Part 1" from their Omega Alive Blu-Ray is a must! It's long but totally worth your time. This whole concert has them spaced apart to comply with C*vid protocols, since the pandemic was in full force during the broadcast. It even says so in the credits.

Since you love Floor and Simone, Floor interviewed Simone on her KZread a couple of years ago for international women's day. It's called Floor Finds Being a Woman in Metal. It's a great discussion between the two.

Try to say "Seemone Seemons"... probably the Dutchies find you pronounce her name right. Dutch and English have the same source language. The languages are written different but a lot of words sound equal and mean the same.

Your pronunciation of Simone is fine. As someone who as a common English name, but was named in French, I much prefer English speakers to say my name the way they are used to, than hearing them butcher the French pronunciation.
