* Please note: I doubled all of these recipes to make enough to freeze! Also, I altered a few of these recipes based on what I had on had (i.e. no beet for color, omitted oil, added garlic powder in lieu of garlic, etc.). If you are new to setian, I recommend following the recipes as written until you're more comfortable to swap ingredients in and out. Also please note, the nutritional information at the end reflects these recipe alterations, as I input the ingredient quantities into Cronometer based on what I used.

@@LetsEatPlants I would be very interested in learning more about how to make seitan, especially with an Instant Pot.
For easy clean up- crinkle up a piece of aluminum foil to use as a scrubber. Toss when done. I use this on bread bowls. No gooey sponges!

Great tip! Especially if you have some foil leftover from making the seitan. I’ll give it a try, thank you!

🤣🤣🤣 Omg this comment cracked me up. SO TRUE. It's actually my brother in law's.. I'm borrowing it to see if it's worth it! I've been making seitan for years but always wanted a slicer to get that deli-style thinness. 😅😅
I don’t think I would have ever tried making seitan, but NOW I WILL! Thanks, Maddie!!!!❤

This was so fun to watch, Maddie! I had never thought to make seitan on my own (I assume it had to be highly processed), but I will consider it, for the future. I really appreciated your nutrition comparison, at the end. Do you know if there's a way to make it without corn starch? I really try to avoid that, at all costs, and would need a low glycemic alternative. Thanks!

Hey there! I’m so glad you enjoyed! Yes you can definitely make it without cornstarch. Do you use tapioca starch at all? I’ve used it 1:1 swap in this recipe, but if that’s not an option I think it would even be ok to leave it out. Shouldn’t make too much a difference in texture. There are plenty of seitan recipes that don’t use it at all! Enjoy. 😊
I'm so glad you did this video. I've never tried Seitan. I've always been kind of scare of it. I'm going to try making one of your recipes and see how it goes. It has to taste better than store-bought.

Thank you for all these fantastic recipes 🤩🤩🤩 To clean your bowls you can try adding some flour into it and scrub with your dry hands, it should do the work 🎉, I've only made Wtf seitan once and it's very time consuming/tedious
@LetsEatPlants

Ooooh great bowl cleaning tip, thank you! I'll give that a try. Agree it's time consuming (especially compared to store bought versions!) but doubling a batch definitely saves time because you're still doing the same work but get twice the yield. 🤩🤩 Just make sure your food processor can handle it!
Thank you for mentioning the cleaning up. I don't see others talking about that.

It’s definitely the most annoying part of making seitan! 😆🙈
I also make a lot of seitan in one go and freeze it. I love Anthony's and never buy any other VWG now. Seitan always comes out amazing with it! Same with the Nooch.

Great video- love the extra nutrition info! Would this work in a stand mixer if we're afraid of thw food processor? (Pls dont judge 😬)
@LetsEatPlants
Жыл бұрын
Hahaha I don’t judge at all because I totally know what you mean! It’s actually a lot for a food processor, so no worries you can do it either by hand or in the stand mixer. 😁 But the wet ingredients do need to be broken down. So for example the first 2 recipes that use tofu, I would put all of the wet ingredients into a blender and make a paste and then add that to a stand mixer with the dry ingredients (or you can even do it by hand). Just run the stand mixer for 1-2 mins… no need to over-knead. 😋
Wow! Thx for the cleanup tips! Never heard that before!!

Hahaha I totally know what you mean. 😆😆 I’ll definitely be including them in upcoming vids. 😁 Here’s just a couple ideas for starters: the chicken I usually cut into salads or stir fries. It’s not the best in soup because it gets a bit spongy, but pretty much any other chicken breast application it works well in! It’s definitely my favorite of the 4 and the one I make most often. ☺️ The deli meat I use for wraps and sandwiches.. occasionally salads if I run out of the chicken. 😆 The sausage I wasn’t sure how to use at first, but I chopped it into a tofu scramble and it was great. It’s a bit on the dry side so I was even thinking of maybe adding it into a chili? (Of course grilling them as hot dogs would work well too!) And the burgers I plan to use as burgers for summer BBQs… but I’m definitely thinking if there are any other ways to use them!
Well, I made Seitan once before and it didn’t come out that well. 😮this isD delicious!!!!

🤩🤩 Wohoo! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Word from the wise, be careful with gluten. I've developed a gluten sensitivity over the years since i went vegetarian and vegan. It's not an intolerance or full blown allergy (i don't think lol 😆 )but i definitely had to cut back on my gluten, monitor it now, and have to go through periods when i cut it out entirely. I can definitely tell when I've eaten gluten so just heads up for anyone who may already have an underlying sensitivity you may be unaware of or possibly develop overtime. I'm assuming i had a sensitivity that i was unaware of and just became an issue over time from my increased gluten intake after going veg. I also have a ton of food and environmental allergies already soooo..... Maybe this is totally a me problem 😂😂 but i figured I'd mention it juuuuuust in case someone else out there may have some issues creep up. I wish i could use this video and try these out because they look tasty and hella convenient for a quick dinner occasionally! 😢

Oh no! That’s terrible to hear! FWIW… I’m in some sourdough FB groups and I see a lot of talk about how people who are gluten intolerant can actually eat sourdough because of the fermentation process. 😳😳 (I’ve also heard of it making a difference if it’s organic wheat or not because of the glyphosate .. but not sure if that’s true.) Aaand lastly, there is such thing as gluten-free seitan.. but I’ve never tried it! 😆 Anyway, I do appreciate your caution and it’s good to be aware of! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@LetsEatPlants I'll have to check out the sour dough! I've always had to be careful with it because it can trigger migraines for me. 🙄 But maybe I can handle it in smaller amounts. I'll have to do some experimenting! Lol oh gosh, yes there is gluten free seitan. I haven't checked the protein levels yet. If there's not much protein in it then I kinda feel like it's wasted calories bc I'm still going to need to go back and figure out where to get some darn protein in me lol. 😆 I'm speaking more on main meals needing protein, I don't mind if some snacks don't have protein and such lol. Thank you for your response and suggestions, I'll be trying each one out to see if they're options that work for me! It was kinda tragic when I discovered I had a gluten sensitivity, lol. Not only is it in so many foods to begin with, but it's also in lots of vegan things to help with transitioning to veganism sometimes or when you're a busy person and need more easy meals and such. Or....when you're a person like me who thoroughly enjoys bread and crackers 😂 🤤

😅😅 Sorry.. I thought it was implied! Vegan chicken spice! Basically just the seasonings used to put on chicken. (Could be marjoram, sage, etc.) Sometimes I also use something called "Grilled Chicken seasoning", but it's basically just a blend of dehydrated vegetables. LOL.
