When a fan animation gives spike and sombra better character development than the actual show ever could 😅 * but hey! still legendary animation no less!!!! * 💯🥶🔥

This is too cool! If only something like this could happen in the show. I love how the fight is getting more epic with each scene. 07:41 That animation is amazing.

So basically "What if… Spike was the main character in an anime?" To be honest I feel like he specifically has a lot of potential as a dragon. You could easily say when he was hatched from Twilight's raw magical outburst he absorbed a lot of it. That's kind of the only reason as to why I can think he doesn't have wings despite every other one we've seen being capable of flight. And the fact he is used as a magical mailbox with his own magic being the source of how that is possible to begin with.

Also if you read comics the relationship between Twi and Spike it's very big.She took care of him since he was a baby with wasn't easy at all.

Holy shit. The idea behind this is frickin' incredible. I'd love to see Spike in the limelight like this for a change. It's much appreciated, all the time and work you put into this, but if this ever got touched up and made to run a little more smoothly, I think it would make it even more badass than it already is.

This is why I love this fandom, because just about any character, no matter who they are, can become epic.

I want Spike to have a moment like this in the series finale.

I absolutely love this video!!! The effects, music selection, chorography, and action was fantastic! Truly a master piece!

You have the gift of direction and cinematography. There are bits here and there that could use improvement (camera roll during action sequence, lighting, smoother animation), but your sense of direction is far better than several that I have seen. Good work.

Of all my years of being on youtube and being a brony, I don't think I have ever seen someone make one of the best characters of the show become a huge powerful badass, yes I mean Spike. Tronoid, your work is spectacular, and the way you made Spike, the seemingly weak dragon, a powerful drake, is amazing, I hope to see more of your outstanding work. ^_^

I knew spike was powerful, but didn't know he was that powerful.

I remember watching this when I was 11, came back for the nostalgia and it's exactly how I remember it

Spike should definitely have his own Element of Harmony. And that element would be called, The Element of Courage.

I've wondered if this video had eventually become lost to the sands of time. I'm glad to see that it isn't and that so many are still enjoying this, years later. @ Tronoid I don't know if you'll ever see this, but thank you. You created something special, here. More than likely you've moved on from making videos and to other things. But, I'd like you to know that it was this video (among many other sources) that served as the inspiration for my own creative ideas. It only goes to show that even characters like Spike have lots of untapped potential.

I don't know how you did it, but you made me like Spike even more than usual. And somehow made him epic as well, despite being well, a baby dragon. Cool video.

Holy... Hell... Though not too far off from some anime thing where the main character has some unbelievable power bottled up somewhere and is released when all hope (and friends) seems lost. I like it! :D

I remember watching this when I was 5 and I didn't care what the hell was going on like *fRiCk*

At first when viewing this, the word decent came to mind. When the action sequence started, I threw that thought away. This is baller as hell dude!

I always imagined the dragons in MLP to have some sort of magic that was exceedingly powerful! Like, perhaps the ponies sacrificed power for control over their magic, while the dragons chose power. Their magic is unpredictable and is more linked to their emotions. That would explain why we haven't seen it in the TV show. Just a little head cannon there!

You know, I know this is old, but it still begs the question... When will Spike ever come into his own? Seriously. I always get the feeling the writers hate Spike for some reason, when really, he's probably the most likable character of all. There's a valid theory that's been roaming around, that since we have no clue how dragons hatch their eggs... It may be some form of draconic magic, considering it was Twilights magic that hatched him in the first place. This would explain his obvious difference in appearance from other dragons, being so small and having no wings. It's altogether possible that, just as Twilight became an alicorn through the accomplishment of certain trials, Spike may also have trials to overcome, and become something akin to an alicorn version of a dragon, possibly possessing some unicorn(or alicorn) magic seeing as how he was hatched in such a manner. It's really not too far fetched to think something like this would be feasible within the canon of the show. I highly doubt such a thing would happen due to the writers being unable to give us even one decent Spike episode... But hey, it could happen, right?

that was amazing,spike just turned from cute sidekick to badass hero. have bronies done reactions to this yet.

I certainly think I could come to like Spike, if they did just give him more than the Twi's blundering sidekick roll.

Some of the animation sequences and movements could have been faster-it was a little annoying that everything happened so slowly at first-but this is definitely an awesome creation! The animation is overall pretty good, the story, although it lacked setting and wasn't really explained, was well thought out, and the overall work and creativity put into it is amazing! Honestly, my favorite part is when Spike goes all out epic. He's a character that I've wanted to see as a boss for a looong time, probably since I first became a brony. Thanks for giving him such an awesome role, and congratulations on this video!

Very cool animation. The fight scene especially was very intense. My only complaint was the time leading up to it, it was really slow-paced IMHO. I ended up running it at 2x speed till 07:00. Maybe something to consider? Despite this, I think you did really good. Well done!

sorry for my late answer ! indeed, the beginning was supposed to be slow passed, but now that I see it after a week without looking at it even once, I think you are right, maybe I made it a little TO slow ! I could easily have cut more on some "takes" in order to "speed up " the sequences. Oh well, glad to hear that you liked it anyway ^^. Hope you are not the only one. ( those 26 like up there are kind of a give-away, but you know, misc-clicks are so common these days ; ) ! )

The battle had gone badly, his friends down, badly hurt , some possibly dead, in his grief for his friends and fear for himself and the fate of the realm, Spikes rage finally burst forth uncontrollably. It was then that Spike's true power awoke because of the grave threat to the realm and his friends that the would be king Sombra represents, and a new guardian of the realm is born.

That was pretty awesome! I like how you implied that Celestia had sealed Spikes true power, likely because as a baby dragon that much power is dangerous. Though my favorite part was actually Spikes power-set. Did you pull that from Spyro: A New Beginning?

Spike: SOMBRA!!! Sombra: Hm?? Spike: YOU HURT MY FRIENDS AND MY FAMILY! THIS ENDS HERE!!!

Spike feels more for Twilight, because she's like a mother to him. Spike's reaction to seeing Twilight bleed out, was that of a child, whose foster mother has been harmed. The pent up rage, unleashed his hidden power.

Not exactly sure kung-fu is the way to go with this. I always pictured Spike going more feral. Using his claws, teeth and fire. The seal thing was awesome. Imposed by Celestia shortly after he was hatched. He was always quick at learning but when he started to pick up and use attack spells after just watching the royal guard, she bound his power and memories up to that point.

I always saw spike as a version of spyro and spike having the 4 elements from the legend of spyro makes me love that trilogy of spyro so much that I wish Sony brings back that trilogy in a 3 game disk for the playstation 4 and 5 Xbox one and Nintendo switch

And here we have Spike delivering an ass-kicking that us Spike lovers feel is long overdue. It's a beautiful ass-kicking.

Dude this was super awesome. One thing though, in the future try slimming down the build up. By the time we got the twilight/spike flashbacks I was thinking WE GET IT ALREADY!!!!! GET ON WITH IT!!!! (insert monty python scene here). Otherwise a fantastic watch

when spike is an ancestor to spyro... one thing id do if i could would be make spike transform when that glass breaks making him into a bigger winged dragon

This is just how a see it. Celestia found his egg, a rare purple dragon egg (Spyro Influence Much?) and saw it as a threat and/or was given it as a gift from spikes parents to look after. Celestia had put a sealing spell on him so that he could not access his potential as a purple - green dragon, one fuelled by not simply the element of greed, but the element of rage(possibly only accessed by pure hearted dragons?. After experiencing something traumatic he would break the sealing spell as the emotion inside him grows (or many even being broken by harmony?) until he completely releases it onto his enemy.

This is amazing. And think about it, Spike has so much unused potential as a character. He doesn't know who or where his original family, he's a dragon meaning he can be this powerful. And have you noticed anything about all of the other dragons? Right, they all have wings. All dragons but Spike have wings. Spikes lack of wings may be thanks to Twilight. She hatched Spike after the sonic rainbow gave her all that magic energy. A bit _too_ much magic energy. And almost all of that magic was poured into Spike. That is more than likely to cause some sort of deformity. All that magic energy poured into him at birth will explain how Spike all of a sudden learns to harness that power in this video. I feel like the writers are missing out on a shit-ton of opportunities for episodes. They should use Spike to actually add some more story to MLP, and not for episodes where it shows him being greedy only to teach a valuable lesson at the end **COUGH COUGH** Princess Spike **COUGH**

Earth...Ice...Electricity...and Fire...so he's not just a purple dragon, he is The Purple Dragon of Legend, destine to either leave his mark on this age, or destroy it. That was Fucking Epic, why can't Spike have character progression like that in the show

Strength of a thousand men by two steps from hell, you could not have chosen a better music score for this great little video. Have to say, anyone who likes this musical score needs to search two steps from hell, you will not be disappointed, it's amazing music.
