Welcome to SUMO PRIME TIME! It's the opening day of the July Grand Sumo Tournament in Nagoya. Onosato, the champion from May's tournament, enters as a top contender but faces numerous challengers, including many up-and-comers. Can Ozeki Kotozakura secure his first championship, or will Ozeki Hoshoryu claim the Emperor’s Cup for the second consecutive year in Nagoya? Adding to the excitement, Yokozuna Terunofuji returns to action, promising a thrilling competition. With so many wrestlers to watch, this July Tournament in Nagoya promises an unforgettable 15-day extravaganza for fans worldwide. Furthermore, this will be the final time the July Tournament is held at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium, as the venue will be closing down soon. Who will emerge victorious in the final edition of the Nagoya Basho at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium? Stay tuned for all 15 days. Arigato, and see you soon!

I was most impressed with Atamifuji's bout against Hoshoryu today. He was solid after he grabbed Hoshoryu's mawashi with his left hand. I bet he will be a real force during this tournament.

I'm surprised and disappointed that Kirishima's bout wasn't featured. He's trying to score 10 wins so he can return to Ozeki after having to withdraw because of injuries in the last two tournaments, so his matches will be very important!

I know Hiro-san, rice (washed), dried squid and kelp (kombu), Japanese chestnuts and nutmeg, and salt were used in the Dohyo-matsuri (ring festival) on the eve of every sumo tournament and they were placed pn a hole in the center of dohyo (ring) along with sake (rice wine) to bring good luck. I just watched the start of Nagoya tourney, but it was for the final time at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium before moving to IG Arena next year.

These young uns got promoted kinda quick due to the old guards missing out coz of injuries. They need more experience since they sometimes gas out if their preferred technique gets stopped. Kinda missing Hakuho's performance with the bouts being displayed, no one is utilizing that initial slap anymore but its kinda an op move in its own way.
