Hey everyone, here is an Epic Rap Instrumental I composed and produced called ‘Phoenix’, inspired by the Anime Character ‘Reiji’ or should I say ‘Zwei’ from the Anime ‘Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom’.
The name of this Anime is Phantom For The Requiem, and it’s about how a young man; Reiji is a tourist and suddenly stumbles upon a murder that was executed by the international gang ‘Inferno’. Suddenly, Reiji finds himself in a pursuit by members of Inferno who eventually give him an ultimatum to either join them as a hitman or be killed. As nature and survival instincts has it Reiji was able and chose to survive.
Eventually, Inferno gave Reiji; their new Phantom a code name - Zwei. Zwei was paired with someone of another code name ‘Ein’ who was also his training partner throughout the Anime. Both Phantoms were unaware of who they truly were as the Requiem for the Phantom Anime strives to illustrate their journey of self-discovery whilst obeying orders from their superiors to accomplish gruesome missions.
On episode 5 of the Anime Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, Claudia McCunnen one of the Phantom’s superiors, asked Zwei to go on a Mission… The mission entailed to kill the wife and child of local territory holder; Tony, whom Inferno intended steal resources from. The punishment was as is where if Tony rejected the negotiation or offer Inferno presented for his territory, his family would suffer the consequences. It was Reiji’s job to murder the mother and child, while Ein’s job was to take out Tony’s men. This was one of the darkest scenes in all of Anime.
I thought I’d call the track ‘Phoenix’ because I realised the words ‘Inferno’ and ‘Phoenix’ coincide with one another. I could have called the track Inferno, but I chose Phoenix. I wanted to produce an Epic Cinematic Rap instrumental that embodied the Phantom’s change in character and emotion as it was his duty to carry out the mission.
The track as you listen starts off very hard and cold… but as the song progresses there is a change or shift in the nature of the song that I think resembles a concept, idea or thought that Zwei had to consolidate before agreeing to the mission, let alone doing the deed. In other words, this Epic Rap Instrumental resembles Zwei’s emotional thought process before, during and after the mission.
Regarding the production of this song, it took me a week to produce and add other elements to it because I wanted to strive for a cinematic but epic sound. As result, the mixing took a while as there are almost 40 orchestral elements in the soundtrack, but mastering was not an issue as once the mixing was done, mastering required a simple procedure which I completed in 1 day.
As a side note, my computer broke down and required an upgrade so if anyone considered or witnessed a lack of upload in the last 3 weeks, that’s why.
Anyways, Phoenix is now finalised and ready for KZread!
