Epic powder day, Andrew Pollard and John Collinson absolutely shred Snowbird & Alta.

Спорт

Skiing bell to bell with Andrew Pollard and John Collinson for a day is no joke. They know the terrain in Little Cottonwood Canyon better than almost anyone, after all, they both grew up skiing and living in the canyon, and that's just the type of person you want to be with on a powder day. We hit classic lines, and a plethora of jumps, cliffs and features it was awesome.

    Best video so far! Pollard looks impossible to keep up with. I live in CO but had an epic bell to bell day at the bird last year, with 12 in falling during the day on top of 12 from the night before. Hit some great stuff but would have loved to have had someone with a fraction of the knowledge of apoll showing me around!

    In addition to this season's bad conditions in Japan, the peak snow season is generally quite short compared to western USA/Canada & the Alps. One of those things you learn while living here because the Japanese ski industry's marketing would never reveal this. Also, in my experience, Utah pow is drier than Hokkaido pow. On a good year though, Hokkaido & Tohoku are great between mid-January to late February.

    Epic day and great cross-court lines/hits. Fun to see how you guys dissect a mountain! Interesting choice though... to pull out the Maverick's out on a day like this with just 100mm underfoot. A number of choices in the Atomic line for these conditions... and I know you could make barrel staves work... but why the Mav's?

    ok, that makes more sense!... but I dont understand why the Mfg's use the same color/graphics on different width skis (like the old white salomon 106 and 112). It just causes consumer confusion and makes it hard to position the ski in the company's line-up based on its own individual merits. Thanks for clarifying! @@carterhudson2306

    Thanks and glad you dig it. These are a new maverick that I was testing last season and worked with the team to help develop. It’s a 115 ( also there is a 105) similar to the current Mav as a ski area charger, with bigger floatation, and more playfulness. It’s a really fun ski. Great for the ski hill and charging hard.

    @@sagePerspective Nice! Unfortunately, just picked up some Blank 112's- which a lot of people on line are comparing to the new Mav 115s - wish I woulda known! Just an observation from a marketing brand guy who cant turn it off... Ideally Atomic should be using different colors/graphics to distinguish it from their other skis or from the 100mm Mav in this case... and.... it seems Atomic is getting a lot of overlap in their line-up which can cause consumer confusion and limit a ski's ability to establish its own identity... to say nothing about impacts on manufacturing and marketing costs. I'm available should Atomic need some guidance :) And... I will be trying the 115's...because you da' man :)

  • @sagePerspective

    @sagePerspective

    @@batman50ish Graphic wise it is similar to the 100 with the white, so I understand where your at. Over lap wise, If you look year to year the 24-25 line up actually reduces that factor. between Backland, Bent, and Maverick the line is more refined, with more well defined categories and sizes. Backland now is touring/BC focused. Bent- playfull powder, and Mav is all about ski hill charging. Good perspective and thoughts for sure! and enjoy the fresh skis, and if you get a chance to try the Mav 115!
