• Red Rocks to Mountain ...
Check out www.rockymountainatvmc.com/?u... for all your parts, apparel, and accessories!
From deep red rock and canyons carved by time to soaring mountains ranges and remnants of the past, the Red Rocks to Mountain Tops adventure ride pays homage to the rich culture, mining history, and sweeping frontier that shaped the Wild West.
This adventure route has been years in the making and showcases some of the most spectacular views the West has to offer. Winding with the Colorado River, summiting 13,000’ mountain passes, and traveling by abandoned mines, powerful waterfalls, and varied historical landmarks, the trail is guaranteed to take your breath away.
As part of our RM Rides series, we’ve documented the ride and put it together in a video series and companion blog post, making it easy for you to plan your own Red Rocks to Mountain Tops adventure. We’ve provided the GPS files below so you can follow our same route.

Hi! I loved the videos for Red Rocks to Mountain Tops as well as the Battleborn Nevada series you did. I’m trying to plan trips to do both of these rides but the link to the gps files isn’t working for either of them. Is there still a way to get these gpx files? Thanks in advance!!

Even with all the internet research tools, good gear, and good bikes this is still a big undertaking. My pops used to do this kind of stuff back in the 60's on old Triumph's and BSA's with a fistful of paper maps.

It's great that you included all those older bikes (plus some new bikes), to show people that you don't necessarily need a brand new KTM to have a great adventure. Looking forward to watching the series and seeing how they all go.

I think you should do a multi day touring trip on the Honda CT125 ("Hunter Cub" I believe) once they are available and have some parts for modifying and selling. In some ways, they are designed nicely for light and economic adventuring. (rugged design for a motorbike/"scooter", comes with a huge rear rack, room for wider wheels and tires if you want, has a skid plate, and - gets extremely good fuel mileage - I believe over 150mpg is possible.) Bikes like these could bring people into ADV (and parts buying) who would otherwise not have done so -- some older guys, women, folks who feel too small/weak for big bikes, scooter nerds, efficiency lovers, nature lovers, hipsters, college kids who would buy a scooter for transportation, etc...

Just finished COBDR on my WR250R. Having a light bike was great, and only once was power a concern due to elevation- the steep switchbacks of Corkscrew Pass required first gear, full throttle, and a bit of clutch to keep from stalling. Lower gearing would have helped... mine is stock.

What seemed to be the tire of choice for this ride, especially on the KLR's? I run Shinko 705's on my Gen 1 KLR but looking for a more trail type tire, maybe in the 50/50 range.
