Epic FREE camps & insane trout fishing | Victoria High Country | S1 E2

Спорт

Welcome back to another episode on our travels around Australia! In this episode we made it to the highlands of Victoria and wow it’s absolutely amazing. We found some awesome free camps just next to rivers that are FULL of trout, like you won’t believe how many we were able to catch.
The entire time we spent up at the highlands of Victoria we were able to free camp everywhere and every camp was just epic.
This first camp was on a off road track close to lake dartmouth, second camp was in the alpine national park, VIC. And wow we can for sure recommend this camp, there was toilets a small swimming hole and this is where we caught most of the trout on the trip. Welcome to Jokers campground, make sure you don’t miss it and bring the lure Gill recommends at the end of the video. Third camp was outside of the national park but cant remember the name of it. Have a look on wiki camps for free camps that goes along the omeo highway.
How do we shower? We have free camped the last 3 week so we will show you our portable hot shower that keeps hot in northern Victoria, it’s a must!
Don’t miss how we cook the trout on the fire (catch & cook 🤪) It turned out so so delicious, fresh trout is amazing.
So a packed episode full of free camps and trout fishing. Don’t miss it 🤙🏼

Fantastic Effort guys. We camped on the Dargo River in April and I caught only the one Brown Trout but was very happy with my catch. The alpine area is new to us so hope to see more of it in the near future.

Well done. Catching one is better then none in my books. Yea we loved our time in the alpine area more then we were expecting. Unfortunately we won’t be back for some time all though we are now in northern WA and I expect this area will give us some new Adventures. Hope you can following along our journey Cheers John 🍻😊🐠

PLEEEESE! do not use soap or "shower"products in these pristine locations and waterways!! Surely going to these increasingly rare natural environments involves doing without chemical cocktails for a while. No-one wants to follow you in to these places to find drifts of soap froth in the eddies. Remember your obligations to "take nothing but photos .., leave nothing but footprints".

Yeah, I noticed this as well. Big no no. In those summer months, a solar shower is the go. Well away from the river/lake. When it starts to cool, you can use a little gas hot water unit. Grab a pop-up shower tent for privacy. Enjoy and keep making us jealous with those catch tallies. You're killing me! 🤣

Good fishing, but pretty irresponsible of you to camp in a Victorian National Park with a dog . Everyone doing so if caught risks thousands of dollars per dog per day, not just a few hundred bucks. Not the best advertisement for others unfortunately.
