Wow, great stuff Dom. 60odd years ago we used to catch those big KG's all around the "Stragglers". That place was teaming with big skippy, KG's and massive kingy. Never used rods in those days, all hand lines. Still got the scars. Cheers....from Portland..........

Hey dom don’t listen to those who say you take to many, if your under the bag limit then your fine. Here in SA the areas we look for to target whiting we call broken ground, basically sand with weed through it or weed with patches of sand through it. Also the best bait for whiting is when you pull a squids head off with the guts you will see these two white parts connected to the back of the head and guts, it’s nice and soft and the whiting love it

@@FishTuckerMan well to be fair we should, its all we have left South Australia is known for 3 things, Big whiting and big snapper for boat fisherman and big mulloway for land based fisherman. they took snapper fishing away from us with the 6 and a half year ban (will probably be longer) so all thats really left for boaties is whiting fishing which to me is a scary prospect, if over targetting snapper caused the stocks to deplete what is over targeting Whiting going to do to their stocks. we also call patchy reefs as broken bottom but its still worth fishing those for whiting too, reef whiting are normally donkies

I waited all week for this video and it was worth it them KG’s were beauty’s. Lovely stuff mate

Never listen to the comments complaining about your success. I've travelled all of Aus, and everywhere you go, if you catch a big fish, some sour face will always try to knock your success. Me being an immigrant, many couldn't stand me out fishing then, It's pure jealously! Enjoy !😁

As someone that catches King George in vic the best thing you can do is keep moving until you find them when you do drop the burley pot down to the bottom and give it 15-20 mins and start casting all around the boat until you find where they are sitting and once you locate them absolutely pound that area and try to catch as many as you can until they stop biting once it slows down or stop move a little bit maybe 50 or 100 meters and keep moving until you find them again also the tide is your best weapon once the tide is in full swing thats your best chance once it drops out you got either 2 choices go home or go fish for squid until the next tide change also dont leave fish to go find a better patch if your picking 1 up every few minutes better stay there then try to find them again in better numbers as your more likely to find nothing

Great tips mate! Some areas on our metro coast are no anchoring spots..I've tried a sunken barley pot on the drift a few times to get them..and yep the higher tides are far better!

I was 40lb..limits the tangles, handles the heavy snapper sinker well on the drift..I'd use 20lb if I was anchoring. Thanks mate, you too👍🍺🍺

Its not the fish weight to line weight that matters. .Fishing with 8 ounce sinkers, on the drift in 13 meters and no tangles, 40 lb is perfect
