Spent 10 years as a firefighter, after 18 months, I lost count of the near misses we had. Our department had photos of every wreck our vehicles had over the years, we were a semi-rural department that grew into a suburban department. During drivers training/refresher all those photos were brought out as a reminder...

At 5:50: This is a kind of vehicle that no fire station in Germany would have: a ladder town by a truck, like a trailer. I reckon it would be far too long and would get stuck in narrow curves. But New York is not Heidelberg, or Neustadt am Rübenberge...

@@carsonpackard117 We understand it, but at the same time we don't, we have rear steering supported axles (sometimes 2 or even 3 on some trucks) that rotate inwards compared to the front wheels so it can take tighter corners in Europe for years (and the same goes for regular trucks with trailers, most trailers have an extra axle that the driver can lower from the driving position to help with steering in the smaller neighbourhood roads.) We think it's weird that with such incredibly wide roads you still rely on those kind of setups while in Europe with our usually much smaller roads, we get along just fine with our trucks having assisted steering in the back just by having them coupled with the front wheels.

Awesome ray well my long time friend not a fireman found a drip torch from old day I take it upper state NY forest fighting tool .says approved by new York city fire dept ,made by HM Mcnutt NY a awesome gift he found in pa and a piece of NY History I got .am a volunteer Pennsylvania Fireman 35 yrs of course company is the fighting Irish Kelly Green engine a Dark Green fire Engine.only one of it's kind . Clover Hose co.am there 35 yrs now am proud I joined the ranks of the proud to say today I Am the Brave and Fearless person called A FIREMAN TC God bless us all .

A tiny bit different compared to here, when "everyone goes" in the station across the street from me we would send: 3 pumpers, 1x 100ft aerial, 2 tankers/pumpers, 3 ambulances, 1 command van, 2 officers cars, 1 material van, 1 water rescue/high rise van and 2 smaller vans. There used to be a truck with container and crane but that was transferred to another station due lack of space. When those all leave our station it's about empty (minus a trailer or 2). But then stations here in Europe are mostly way bigger. :) (10 to 20 vehicles in a station is quite normal here) (And when our new station will be build in about 3 years from now it will be quite a bit bigger than the current one (which was build in the 1970's and extended in the 1980's)

Here a firefighter either uses a remote control from the truck, or upon receiving the alarm and getting downstairs hits a button to raise it and it stays in the open position as long as the truck did not pass the exit, and there might even be stations that have systems that respond to the truck being used that get's started.
