This is Jonas Burnett’s 1953 Chevy 3500 truck. He built it completely from the ground up featuring a full 1 ¾ inch tube chassis and 4 link front and rear suspension
It has many comforts that not all rat rods have such as power windows, a stereo system, and air conditioning. Considered a basic amenity in all modern cars but in the rat rod world, many simply prefer to roll the windows down. And for the cold winter months, Burnett also equipped his rat with heat.
Powering it is a 12 valve diesel Cummins with compound turbos. One being a 63mm and and the other being a S480. Burnett also added a 13mm pump, an o ringed and ported head, adjustable timing, water methanol injection and quite a few other motor modifications you can look into on his instagram page listed in the description.
This epic cummins engine setup is harnessed by a Fully built 4l80 with transbrake running back to a 8.8 rear end with 3.08 gears, chromoly axles and Detroit truetrac locker. He’s also running 31x16 rear tires with champion beadlocks.
It’s been on 4 power tour long hauls, cruised up pikes peak, and won Steve Darnell’s top pick award at a show near Dallas. It’s also been featured in Suncoast diesel training videos and he’ll be heading to the Grand Canyon with it this year as well as many car shows and racing events.
