Do you have some tips on catching the false albacore there are very few videos on how to catch them from the pier or surf in NC/SC. Any tips from the best conditions, lures, etc

You'll see them feeding for sure. If they're there, throw some metal jigs or plugs at them like a gotcha or spoon and they should tear it up! Adjust drag and move along with it. I'm pretty sure thats why I lost one in the video after this one.

@@CarolinaShoreFishing for meaty fish like false albacore, bonito, spanish macks etc.. just cube up the meat and marinate it in a mix of sesame oil, soy sauce, roasted sesame seed and diced green onion and let it marinate for awhile.. some recipes have ginger, hoisun, etc, and you can pretty much flavor it how you like, from mild and sweet through mouth burning spicy depending on what you like.. great recipe for those meaty fish, delicious when fresh..

@@CarolinaShoreFishing I watched a guy beside me try it and took the gotcha plug thru the thumb while the bluefish was still shaking, hanging from the other hook. Happened on the bougue inlet pier. I always step on them , cut their throats then use pliers to unhook them.

It’s a remora not a cobia but they look almost the same but the flat part on it is sticky u can rub it and it will stick to you

  • @CarolinaShoreFishing

This is a cobia. You can see a remora here kzread.info/dash/bejne/oaV8m6ihn5qeYJM.html they're a bit different but you can tell from the shape and fins - the cobia doesn't have the sticking dorsal fin like the remora does.
