We packed up the Jeep and teardrop and headed south to explore the amazing national parks and monuments throughout Utah. We first stopped in Moab for some dispersed camping and off-roading, then made our way to Arches National Park for an up close look at iconic natural arches like Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch, Double Arch and the Windows. After boondocking just outside of Canyonlands National Park, we stopped at Dead Horse Point State Park to take in the beautiful canyon views before entering Canyonlands Island In The Sky. Every turnout within the Park has an incredible view, and the short hike to Mesa Arch is well worth it. If you have the right vehicle, driving up or down the Shafer Trail is definitely worth it. The shelf road switchbacks aren’t too bad if you go slow and watch for oncoming traffic.
We also visited The Needles section of Canyonlands National Park, which is further south of Moab. If you’re looking for an amazing campsite with views of Monument Valley, put Muley Point and Muley Point East within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on your list. Also, don’t miss the opportunity to drive down the Moki Dugway Scenic Byway on your way to Monument Valley, it’s not as sketchy of a road as it may look.
After making our way to Page, Arizona for a stop at Horseshoe Bend, we continued on back into Utah to visit Zion National Park. We didn’t have a permit to climb Angels Landing and the Narrows was closed due to high water, so we hiked the Canyon Overlook Trail and also drove through the Zion Mt Carmel Tunnel. To round out our national park list, we visited Bryce Canyon and the many colorful hoodoos it’s famous for. One final stop on this road trip was the Bonneville Salt Flats in northwest Utah where we took the teardrop out on the flats to play around and get a little dirty. #camping #explore #Utah #Moab #roadtrip #nationalparks #teardroptrailer #getoutside

Let us know in the comments here if you'd be interested in a video about the new permit system. We recently tried it out in Olympic National Park and it was surprisingly easy & smooth!

It is probably one of the most beautiful states, behind WA of course 😉 We actually used licensed footage for any of the park drone shots. Anything on public land was ours. We've only applied for general filming permits so far but looking forward to trying out the drone permitting soon at some other parks. I think having my remote pilot certificate will definitely help, but we'll see! We'll make sure to put something together for this process.
