Luigi Comito performs as Sircut and is the one who coined the term. He performs on this show with Kypski (as WAVETABLER) and Trentabyte, and explains how it all started.
As he says, it's not a new concept to control an instrument with a turntable, but playing the turntable like an instrument...add eurorack modular and then call it Syntablism?
Well.....that just hasn't happened.
Of course, turntablism has a deep and rich culture which you'll see on clear display here.
And I know we love modular synths...
So...enjoy our spotlight show on Syntablism featuring the three artists who are doing it on the planet. *

This show features three very special, and of course, exclusive performances for our spotlight on Syntablism.
In show order:
1. Trentabyte (U.S.)
open.spotify.com/artist/1Eo6u...
/ trentabyte
From the artist:
"The immeasurable musical space that one can occupy within a modular rig! All of my voltage information, as well as my samples, are stored in micro sd cards for fast recall during live performances (westlicht, assimil8or, and tiptop one sampler). The idea is to perform track to track as fast as a DJ, but with options to sit on a loop, twist knobs, throw faders, and have fun in the moment!"
And to explain that cool device on the vinyl that communicates with the Expert Sleepers module that makes it all work.....here you go:

2. Sircut (Germany)
Luigi Comito is the artist who coined the term Syntablism. After this unique performance and interview, you will see all. Like a third-eye kinda situation.

3. WAVETABLER (The Netherlands)
This live show is the first ever performance by WAVETABLER, recorded live at FLUOR Amersfoort (NL) on April 5th 2023. It has not been seen before on the internet - only by the lucky small audience in attendance.
WAVETABLER is a new live electronic music group, consisting of 'Syntablist' Kypski (C-Mon & Kypski) and drummer Bram Hakkens (Kyteman Orchestra).
The group emerged after Kypski was searching for ways to perform his latest music live.
He ended up finding a new musical soulmate in Bram, and added light design by Nick Verstand’s infamous 'Wiwo Studio' (Charlotte Adigéry, Eefje de Visser), a visual studio under supervision of Dutch light artist Nick Verstand.
Kypski found a way to 'scratch' a modular synthesizer in a way that he can create new sounds with scratching, instead of just manipulating samples. In the WAVETABLER show he also 'scratches' with the light design, as well as Bram is drumming with it.

A little about the channel:
Modular World is modular-centric, but not exclusive. Simply put, we feature the artform of modular synthesis, and enjoy seeing it used in many ways; sometimes alone, sometimes with other equipment (a hybrid system).
This show is built around a deep and connected community that's making unique music in every genre you can think of. That's it!
On our shows, you will see many different modular synth formats, like Eurorack, Buchla, Serge, Ciat Lonbarde, 4U, 5U, and of course hybrid systems, midi controllers, computers, desktop synths like SOMA, Elektron, drum machines, turntables, acoustic instruments, the human voice, and so much more.
This global community is all about making music and maintaining an inclusive, patient and helpful SAFE SPACE for all.
So just chill, bro. OMG.

Ah, so glad you liked it, Paul!
Just to make things clear, there is no Bluetooth signal. That's my mistake. The phase controller is actually using a radio frequency of some sort, and then that signal comes out of the receiver as a pitch. I use an rca to 1/8" converter to go straight from the Phase receiver to the disting mk3 input module for cv conversion. Hope that clears thing up! 🤘🏼😎
