That idea works great - one suggestion is to use a "few" 1/8" dowels as pins (say 5 in a 2x1x2 pattern) . Makes it a LOT stronger and no movement when drying or under stress. Even toothpicks will work.

I’ve never thought of using a dead table saw as a work support for a working table saw! And if the new saw is the same model as the old one, the height will match perfectly! EXCELLENT!

Thanks, It works fine for me but is a bit heavy to move around. When I get the time I'm going to strip the saw and components off of it. I'll have plenty of spare parts for the working saw as well.

Neat jig idea. I have to often splice stair stringers on the flat for 16 rise stairs and up. I place them on top of each other as if it was finished size, screw them together, leave 3’ overlap, mark a diagonal line across the overlap, then cut with a circular saw and diy track. Then 1-3 passes with a handheld planer and I get a beautiful joint. Now you’re inspiring to build a boat…more like an Ark to survive the coming deluge. Lol but not. 😅

Glad I could inspire :-) I'd like to know more about the splice you mentioned but you lost me a bit there. I guess I'm a visual learner. lol
