Ray and Mew are both enablers, Mew enables Ray's drug use and alcoholism and now Ray is enabling Mew now that he is spiraling out of control Ray becomes a better person only when he is with Sand, like lower alcohol consumption, better ways to pass time like music and stuff instead of drugs. Mew on the other hand is just being rebellious, he is basically like, "I will do the exact opposite of what Top would expect out of me and I'll break all my principles and do the opposite oof what I usually do". That being said, Ray doesnt love himself and has very little self-worth, and is now being used by his best-friend/crush (Mew), how devastating is it for Ray??

When sand was talking about the secret crush he was talking about himself and what a waste of time was about himself too

4:30 I think Ray is not just talking about Mew when he says "At least he let me cross the friendship line" but how Sand never let him cross the friendship line but now Mew does. 6:13 Because Sand has since the start said that he doesn't want Ray as more than a fiend. And remember before Ray drove drunk he also screamed at Sand something "What are we?/we are nothing to each other" just like Sand said multiple times to him. So even though it up to this point been obvious that they both fallen for each other both of them also been pushing each other away and afraid of committing. Ray has been and still are doing everything just to keep Sand in his life and spend time with him even though he been held at distance or pushed away over and over. He even thought he had to pay for Sand to want to be with him. And Ray with his bagage he's not easily gonna believe that someone truly wants him even if he can see they like him. I mean he was gonna end his life because he didn't feel like anyone loved him even though he had friends and family caring for him back then too. It's when Ray is drunk and really high on cocaine that he gets super cocky (cocaine does that) and says he can have as many as he wants and that he knows Sand likes him. I think many don't know the effects of cocaine and think Ray is just being a dick for no reason. Like Ray how he acts when the police comes that's cocaine. He is high as fucc. And Ray has a problem with alcohol and drug use. What Ray is doing isn't right but it's not intentionally playing with Sand. But Mew, someone he been in love with for years, who saved his life and he feels he owes let him in to be more than friends when Sand said he wouldn't.

I mean I can kinda see where you're coming from, but realistically though based on what we've seen up until this point. It was Sand, from the jump that clearly already felt more for Ray, than just "friends". It was Sand who said if we cross this line, we'll be more than friends, and then it was RAY who said basically, friends can do this too. It was Sand who admitted to his mother that they were more than friends, that he was basically waiting for Ray to catch up. But it's Ray, that at literally every chance he gets says Sand is just his friend, they're just friends, that Sand is not his boyfriend. It's been made pretty clear that Sand is the one very open to being more than friends, yet Ray who has the hangups about it, because of his infatuation with Mew. The times that Sand has taken a step back and put that wall and that boundary back up, is when Ray himself did something really messed up towards him and crossed too many lines. Like pushing and pushing for Sand to sleep with him again, but then literally ditching him the moment Mew calls. Sand lets his walls down and lets Ray in, much father than any type of "friend" and Ray fumbles it, every time, without fail. So Sand literally has to put that boundary right back up, close his walls against Ray. Again and again. Just to protect himself, because unfortunately Rays toxicity is so damaging to him... Ray literally can't see Sand truly, because he's so blinded by his obsession with Mew. And yet there Sand is, literally just waiting for him to wake up and look at him. And like he says, not just as a 2nd option or a last resort. If you go back and watch, it's always Sand looking for the sign that they're more than friends, and admitting to others that they are, and being very clearly heartbroken when reminded again, that they're not. And then there's a few times, that Ray casually expresses interest in being more than friends, but only as a means to get what he wants from Sand, in the moment. Like don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE Ray, after Sand he's my 2nd favorite character in the whole show. But my guy is a walking chaos engine of a mess... right now. And Sand is just barely managing to survive the damage.

I have such a headache watching people react to this series sometimes but especially this episode. It floors me that people are so quick to victimize mew and villianize ray without a second thought. When in the first place it should be obvious who's more in the wrong. The one encouraging his "friend's" addiction, stringing him along, and harping on his insecurities to bury his own pain over a breakup. Not the one struggling with addiction and mental health (currently drunk as fuck and high as a kite) constantly trying to move on with zero self worth and complex that no one truly loves him (our could ever unless he does everything they ask). It really puzzled me truly why people boil down ray in this episode to being simply an "idiot" and not someone who's had next to no example of what caring for soneone means and a serious addiction problem. Fundamentally he's in no way a bad person who some overconfident jerk who treats people badly. But people forget drugs and alcohol quite literallt change your brain chemistry. Making you act a LOT differently than you normally would otherwise. Its honestly not fair to him at all (to call him stupid and just blame him for everything) but I guess he's just easier for people to hate and shit on smh

@@RowensARTstudioit seems mutual to me, and so scary or unbelievable to Sand and Ray respectively, that they deny they have anything special together. Ray is the one who repeatedly goes to Sand to be with Ray again, to join Sand's entire day and sleepover. Ray asks "is it not ok that I like him?" and Sand consistently says he has no claim on Ray and Ray gets to meet/like-who he wants to but not 2 at a time, Sand didn't want a 3some in ep 2 and he won be part of love/lust/like triangle

8:44 sure but Mew is using Ray for just that reason too, to act out, be able to get everything he wants and have someone who loves him. Ray would never say no to Mew.

"There's confidence and then there's Boston" That made me laugh out loud! :D :D I honestly watched this episode the first time as if it was a horror movie, almost having to watch it hiding behind a pillow, since everybody was just making the worst choices in this episode. It was painful to watch in the most delicious way, haha One thing I think this also shows, is that even if Mew and Ray were in the best headspace they could never be good boyfriends for each other. Because Ray can't say no to Mew, hence why it's even "easier" for Mew to just continue his destructive path and not deal with his pain. And I think Ray has always had this idea of how it would be to be together with Mew, sometimes putting Mew up on a pedistal, which is also why he could never let himself be his honest self together with Mew, but instead trying so hard to please him instead.

31:38 I remember when this ep aired someone pointed out that after Cheum, in front of Top, said to Ray something about Ray having coke at the party then the cops shows up starts searching for drugs, goes up to Ray and checks his pockets, then Top comes with an envelope full of money ready and saves Ray...

Honestly, at this point in the show I understand why people didn’t like ray- however, mew taking advantage of his friend who has drug abuse problems, alcohol problems, suicidal tendencies, and he knows is in love with him so he can “get back at top” (which to me was very obvious even at this point). Mew is the bad guy no matter how bad anyone else is. I personally think he is wayyy worse than Boston, top and someone else 😉… combined. Ray is clearly struggling with life in general- which makes people make bad decisions. I also think they made top not as bad and gave him a “good guy” arch because he is one of the characters based off a real person and they changed things to make the character look better. ( director’s confirmed they changed editing based off fan feedback)

as a Ray defender it was certainly hard to defend him this episode 🤣🤣😅

Mew runs around threatening people with hate crimes (yeah, outing someone with a fucking illegally obtained sex tape is a hate crime) and treats his friends like shit all the time (because he has some sort of superiority complex over both Boston and Ray), and then turns around and acts like he is a saint and victim in every possible situation. I don't know, there is so much cruelty in him that gets swept under the rug because he is 'a nice guy' or whatever, when an actually decent person would never tell their suicidal friend that they will die before thirty or go out of their way to obtain a non-consensual recording of someone having sex.

I'm only half way through the reaction and you keep saying Ray hasn't done anything bad to Mew... But Ray sexually assaulted Mew?

@@may15739 it explicitly is stated according to the law, that kissing someone without consent is sexual assault. Doing something to someone else’s body without their permission or without them being able to consent is what counts it as sexual assault. Ray literally did it while Mew was asleep and couldn’t consent to it. Ray also kisses Sand without consent in Ep 8. I’m not trying to make light of anything, but don’t try to downplay what sexual assault is. There is multiple forms of it. just because you don’t count something as it, doesn’t mean that’s true in the eye of the law

Kissing someone without consent isn’t okay at all, but I definitely wouldn’t call it sexual assault. If it was ongoing or forcing himself onto Mew, then yes. But he stopped the second Mew stopped him. Not okay! But not assault

Doing something to another persons body without their permission or without them being able to consent counts as sexual assault. Also if we used the logic you said with Ray stopping, that could be applied to any type of sexual assault; and it would still be assault. For example if Ray had been touching Mew, but stopped when Mew woke up it would still be sexual assault. Just because you stop, it doesn’t make it any more fine. Mew wasn’t able to consent even to begin with as he was asleep. Sexual assault isn’t always violent or always completed.

@@istergy2939 I agree with most of what you are saying, but not everything. If you mean touching his privates, or anywhere sexual, than definitely. But what if he touched his shoulder or his cheek? That isn’t sexual assault. It’s not quite comparable. Also, almost anywhere in the world “sexual assault” legally requires some sort of penetration. I 100% disagree with that idea, but that is what it is considered legally almost everywhere in the world. In fact, most places it’s specifically “vaginal penetration”. Again, I 100% disagree with that, but sadly that’s what “sexual assault” is legally. In Thailand specifically, “sexual assault” is considered “unwanted sexual intercource”. That’s why something like this would probably be “attempted assault”, not “sexual assault”. Again, I disagree, but if you are talking legality. Or it would be “sexual harrassment”, that is probably a better term for it. Again, if Ray was kissing him and feeling him up, definitely more in line with sexual assault. This needs to 100% change. But at the end of the day, what Ray did would not be classified as sexual assault, nor is it likely for Mew to consider it that either, which is really whose perspective is important here. What Ray did was wrong, but to put him anywhere near someone who commits actually sexual assault is just wrong.

It was interesting watching you keep wanting to defend Ray, because my experience through out this episode was quite differnet. I was increasingly getting more and more annoyed with him. He is acting like an entitled brat, who thinks the world revolve around him, and he's being completly reckless with himself and his friends. And I really just wanted to smack some sense and humility into him! But we have to keep in mind that he's an addict, and so he is probably under the influence 99,9% of the time and adding coke to that isn't making things better. So making sound decisions isn't really an option. It doesn't excuse him, but it does explain a lot. - But as I wrote in my comment for ep7, as long Sand, his friends and his dad makes excuses for him, bail him out of trouble and enable both his drinking and his behavior, he won't change. Why would he? Mew is obviously spiraling. When he said he wanted to try new things, I was like "well okey then, buy a pair of cowboy boots or learn to play the flute"! 😂 I noticed in the book store, that in the flash back with Top, Mew was wearing a white shirt with black on it, but now with Ray he is wearing a black on with white on it. That's a subtle visual change symbolizing his state of mind, and the wolf you feed is the one that will get stronger. Also there's a big difference between his interactions with Top vs. Ray in the store. With Top they were talking about the books, engaging in existential discussions, whereas Ray is basically just loiitering around in the back, bored AF, waiting for Mew to finish. All he really has to offer Mew is partying and drinking. I think the magic word for Mew is *should* - he keeps saying "Ray is the one I should love" - as in he isn't actually the one he loves, he just sees him as the emotional safe bet (substance abuse issues aside). But if you look at the scene right after they did the coke, Mew carefully avoided the kiss Ray leaned in for, because reality is, he doesn't feel it, and so he doesn't want to cross that line. But as soon as they got in front of Top, Mew did it anyway - just to spite him. And hats of for Top keeping his cool through all of that! As for Ray, I think it's very telling that even though he finally got what he wanted, he still spend almost this entire episide pursuing Sand. An his first move after Mew kissed him, something he's been pining after for years, is to go and 🐓block Sand. Ray has been kissed with passion and desire before, he must have felt the difference! I had completly forgotten that Atom was Chuem's younger brother, but when that penny dropped I was like "well Boston, you already fucked over your friends, so why not fuck your friends little brother too" - that guy is just nasty! I did for second at the end think that this would be Boston's deciding moment, where he actually constrain himself, and put other peoples feelings over his desires. But he couldn't do it. 🤷‍♀
