Kartoffel is a wild betta species called Mahachai betta. These are his favorite foods.
Undoubtedly, the over trimming caused the sweet potatoes to not do well.
B/c there’re no more sweet potatoes, I’m gonna do more frequent water changes.
Around 2 times a week. 25~50% with 3 day old water. I didn’t trim the hornwort b/c I wanted it to grow big and help filter the water.
I’m not sure how the spinach will turn out.

3 day old water:
1. Tap water in a bucket
2. Add water conditioner and stir vigorously, kinda like making a lemonade.
3. Leave the water 2~3 days alone. You can cover it with something, too, if you want to avoid dust.
4. 1~2 hours before the water change, I add a heater in the bucket and match the temperature to the tank’s temperature. Kartoffel’s tank is 26°C or 79°F.
5. Optional almond leaf water: Boil dechlorinated water; I use the bucket water. Pour the boiling water in a glass container. Add crushed almond leaf in the container. Stir. Leave it alone for an hour or two. I add just a little bit of this almond water during the water change.
You don’t have to do water changes like this. However, this is the safest way I know for a betta.

INDOBETTA Pellet Monster #2 - This might be difficult to find. Very few stores import this I think. I bought this at a LFS. Every betta is a little different with different pellets. I feed Kartoffel with several different kinds of pellets and this is his favorite.

basically kartoffel thought it was another betta and he started displaying his colorful fins to scare the betta (his reflection) off as bettas are very territorial.

they spread their gills to make them look bigger as well, which allows them to use muscles not usually active

Yeah when they flare, it helps them be more active but when they over flaring, it can get it’s fins hurt and becomes a problem having it not tucked in. That’s what I’m thinking I could be wrong

@@Kimchi.3 nah it doesnt hurt them, if u didn’t know which u probably do know, fish open their gills like that to look more scary to other fish so they run off. So when u see fish fight they usually have their gills and mouth wide open. 💀

@@iconic818 yeah, but too much flaring can cause them to stress is what I was going after about and saying small amounts of flaring won’t hurt them, but it helps them with good exercise.

Whole shrimp 1-2 times per week and exercise too. That betta is loved! Also with the plants, you sir are a bit of a genius.

Bettas arent very well suited fo aquaponics. Usually want something more hardy and with a varied diet. Goldfish and koi are useful since they're technically omnivores. Tilapia is usually what is used though because they can also be sold for food.

What a cliffhanger for season 2! Who are these new characters? Can Spinach do the trick and be as interesting to follow as their predecessors? Will they bloom on air? What will happen to the good Sweet Potato? Shall Kartoffel keep its name? Are nests in next season? (I've heard there's been some conflicts between them and the production on stage once) Will there be another cameo of the Hollywood star that divided the audience last season, Shelly the Spider? So many questions to be answered in season 2, stay tuned!

Love this channel, great video as always! A small suggestion, when feeding with the pointy tweezers hold them upside down so if he gets a bit enthusiastic and lunges at the food he only hits the flat part. My betta Ghost jumped at a piece of food once and jabbed himself in the eye with my planting tongs, he was fine but now I use blunt plastic tweezers :)

When in doubt go with a pothos plant, they can grow on water too. However, the good thing about spinach, you can feed the leaves to your shrimp.

I have severe GAD, panic disorder and depression and these videos seriously help! I have my own betta and I love him so much! The aquarium with my betta in it and houseplants I keep are my hobbies and they bring me so much joy and relaxation. I’d recommend either to anyone with mental health issues. You get so much joy from seeing your aquarium and fish flourish and I get so so happy when my plants grow a new leaf or stem. The whole “need to be needed” thing. I do have a dog too and she helps, but she isn’t a hobby, she’s my life lol

Oh god that Chopin piece was what I played for my level 8 CM test. After level 10 the grind kinda extinguished the spark in me, and I kinda stopped playing piano. This piece really helped show me that music is beautiful, because I became desensitized to how lovely this piece is. Thanks for inspiring me to start playing again.
