My almost 81 year old husband has been on statins since he had quadruple bypass surgery at age 54. 8 years ago he suffered a ventricular tachycardia episode and was without a pulse for several minutes. Since that time his heart has been fine, but he became increasingly lethargic. He also had a great deal of brain fog and increased memory issues. Most recently he was wanting to sleep 20 out of 24 hours a day. His cardiologist ordered an echo…all was good. No change in medication. I became increasingly frustrated because this was no way for him to live. Our daughter and son told me about you and your podcasts. I’ve been paying attention. The first thing I did was change his statin from every day to every other day. His life and behavior changed almost instantly. He’s still pretty weak, but he is now getting up every morning, sleeping only at night (except for an occasional nap), doing every day things like filling the bird feeders, emptying the dishwasher, fixing his own lunches, carrying groceries into the house. I’m furious at this being such a simple fix, and no doctor even suggested it might be his statin. I have now eliminated the statin from his medication regime!!! Thank you for your wisdom.

Dr. Cywes you and Dr. Berry have changed my life! I started a keto diet on 02/25/23 and shortly after went carnivore, my A1C was 5.7, LDL 189. My Dr. just short of insisted I take a statin but I adamantly said no and she asked why. Fast forward to last Friday she asked me again to reconsider taking a statin I again said no, I had my labs done on my way out. She called me yesterday with my results and admitted she was “very impressed” my A1C was 4.8 and my LDL is now 169 and she went as far as saying I have done so well that she no longer recommends a statin! She would probably fall over if she knew I live off of beef, cracklin, butter, tallow, eggs, and a lot of salt.

Pretty much same story here, without the second visit yet. Went from SAD to full-on Carnivore on 2-20-23. Saw my doctor about a month ago, walked in 50 pounds lighter than the last time I saw him and of course, he went nuts and praised my efforts up and down. Blood pressure AND bloodwork work came perfect for the first time in DECADES, all except for my LDL, which was 2 points higher (196) than my last results. He not only wanted to give me a statin, but also Repatha! Nope, I'm good...

All the years on statins I had depression , no libido, erectile dysfunction, achy joints and muscles , exasperated, my flat foot pain to the point where I can hardly walk! Lethargic etc ! Had my first cholesterol test at 45. It was about 240. The doctor was climbing the wall to start me on his favorite diet and to prescribe statins. I tried this for about 6 months and started having serious muscle fatigue and brain fog. At the next appointment I crept into his examining room looking like I was 10 years older. I told him I was going to stop taking the junk drug. A blood test still showed 210 for cholesterol. I had very good insurance then so he ordered a heart scan. When the results came back I was in the top 10% for low calcium. 8 years ago with a new city and a new doctor I went through the same situation at my first blood test. After expounding on why I would never take statins and mentioning my calcium score he ordered an ultrasound. Similar result. Very low calcium. I know a lot of people who are on this trash. I have watched their health deteriorate in a matter of months. I don't preach, but I tell them of my experience. Some have listened and are always grateful for the information when we meet months or years latter.

Many years ago, Statins ruined my working life for 3 years. I found myself not being able to think and solve problems. Since I had a highly paid job where I was continually problem solving, the amount of stress I was under was incredible. I even had a brain scan to see what the problem was, the brain scan was totally normal. Then my husband came across a man telling of the symptoms he was experiencing and they were exactly what I was experiencing! He said coming off Statins solved his problem! I stopped taking them immediately, and within 3 days, I was totally back to normal! I don’t know how much my lifespan has been reduced by the excessive stress, I experienced for 3 years but I’m fine now. A couple of years ago my doctor recommended that I go back on Statins, despite the figures (that I worked out from my own blood test results) being absolutely amazing! (I’ve been on a Keto diet now for 3 1/2 years). They have a funny way of working out high cholesterol in the UK to determine if you need to go on to Statins, they don’t actually distinquish between good and bad cholesterol! I will NEVER ever take Statins again!

In 2019, I was told to urgently go see a neurovascular surgeon (the head of that department in a major medical school!). As we were going over my then 8 medications, the doctor stated that, like me, he took a statin daily. I told him, "I hope you are also taking CoQ10 every day." He asked why. "Well, statins leach a vital nutrient, CoQ10, from every muscle in our bodies. I think you'll likely agree that our most vital muscle is our heart." He was dumbfounded. After a few moments of silence, he said thank you for the information. I'll research it and we'll talk about it next week. At my next appointment, he thanked me for that information and told me he started taking CoQ10 the day following our first meeting!

My dad was fearful to ask questions, as he was a car mechanic and didn’t understand medical terms. I was sucked into the medical trap for decades and suffered tremendously from side effects that fell on deaf ears! I am Type II Diabetic. My Doc prescribed Crestor and I had leg and foot pain/cramps every night in places like my arches. My Doc poopoo it and said everyone had cramps. I insisted they weren't normal cramps. He finally agreed to swictch statin to Pravachol. I started having memory issues but I thought it was just age until he doubled the prescription. I went to serious memory issues in no time. I suspected it was the statin and took myself off of the drug. In the 4 months or so before my next Dr. visit, I went from forgetting the names of items I had collected for years to remembering everything. He poopooed again. When I told the Dr. he wanted to try another one. I said no, stating I wouldn't like to live a long life in memory care. He wasn't happy I didn't fall in line. He was still PO'ed at my last visit. I need a new doc. One that understands Type II and understands low carb eating to control it. My doc's wisdom to me when we discovered I was Type II, was to eat more fruits and veggies. No other instruction except for 2 Metformin a day. In a metro area of 2.5 million I can't seem to find a doc that understands this stuff but for two that are outside my insurance coverage. I've been waiting for such a podcast. In 2007 I was put on a statin (with a cholesterol of 202) and after months of complaining about muscle weakness I went into my doctor, to find out that I had developed Type 2 Diabetes, in addition to muscle wasting. Going from an A1c of 4.8 prior to statins to 11.8 in less than one years' time. This resulted in my going Vegan to try and control the diabetes, which lead to foot neuropathy. Due to concern for my eyes and kidneys, I made the dive to Gastric Bypass surgery (RnY), having heard that 78% of clients come off the table without diabetes (though never told that it would be temporary). Through years of research and delving into biochemistry, I've gone Ketogenic and by doing my own labs via the internet, have gotten control of my diabetes (A1c 5.2) staying away from the medical professionals. This now leads me to today with malabsorption issues with B-1, B-12 and Ferritin. I have a consultation with you in August to discuss what a person like me may do to assist with these malabsorption issues. Where is the class action lawsuit in regards to those of us who are now living with life long issues to taking statins.

After seeing this and other videos on statin I was skeptical and told the doctor as much. After a guilt trip he asked if I'd be willing to take a CT scan that measures calcifications and blockages in and around the heart. Well guess what, the scan came back with a score of 0, which translates to a nearly 0 percent chance of a coronary event due to blockage I would encourage anyone in this position to request this CT scoring. It certainly gave me piece of mind to just say no. .

I'm in a bad place right now because of statins. I had two bad knees, but I was managing it.. 4 years on keto, 80 pounds down and zero medications. I then went off plan for a couple of months around the holidays.. full on addiction to carbs again. Had a heart attack three days before Christmas. Here come the statins. I was against them since my Dad had major problems with them. The cardiologist scared me.. so I took them. Muscle pain on the first one .. they gave me another one, same thing. I was in so much pain. They gave me another one. It's in my cabinet never opened. I believe the damage has been done. My leg muscles are mush which isn't helping with the knee situation. Which in turn has caused a major problem with my foot because of my gait. I wish I never took them!!! I feel totally lost and alone. Thank you Dr. For this video.

Maybe try going carnivore for a bit, eat plenty of protein to heal, about 1g per lb of "ideal" body weight and then enough fat to top up your satiation. Protein first, then good fats with omega 3's like in eggs or fish.

Giving up sugar and processed food has done more for me than any drug (I lost 18kg). I still eat some carbs, as it's hard to get away from them. Sugar is the most important thing to give up.

I was on Statins. They practically destroyed my life. When my PCP told me I must go on Statins. I told her to give me some time and let me try getting my cholesterol down by diet. She gave in, but eventually she warned me about increased risk of stroke or heart attack, but absolutely NOT a peep about the side effects. Months later, I was diagnosed with insulin resistance by my endocrinologist. I was shocked. I always had great blood glucose numbers and had been in terrific health. Then I sunk into the dark world of confusion, horrible sleep, crippling fatigue, unable to speak correctly and terrified that I had dementia. No one told me statins had these horrific side effects. And that's when I found Ken Berry. He had a terrific KZread video about Statins and side effects. I checked all the boxes that he put up on the screen. My husband walked in and asked me why I was crying. And all I could say, "It's the Statins!" He came over to me and hugged me and he said I'm going to fix this! He went into the kitchen and found my bottle of Atorvastatin and dumped the pills in the garbage. Never again will I take a medication without research before consent. A painful lesson learned.

Commenting from Aus, i developed an irregular heartbeat three years ago my GP sent me to a cardiologist who found out I also had a bicuspid valve, which you are born with and an a aneurysm in my aorta which , I was told, is common in weight lifters which I was in my youth. I was prescribed blood thinners a beta blocker and a statin, being Crestor. Every time I visited my GP I would complain about discomfort in my chest and a lack of energy, I told him I just couldn’t get going until after lunch, I would just sit there with my head down thinking my once busy outdoor physical lifestyle was over. I started experimenting by stopping different meds for a day or two at a time but nothing changed but then I remember seeing the vids on statins so I gave that a go and within a day or two at the most I was back working in the garden till ten or eleven AM have a break then back into it. It all made sense, I was always fine when I got up but started feeling bad after breakfast, this made me think that breakfast wasn’t agreeing with me but I always took my Meds after food. Because I knocked the Statins on the head I felt great so I resided to get my weight under control so I gave up all processed carbs and started intermittent fasting, which I heard about from these great doctors. I’ve now lost twenty five KG in four months my cholesterol has gone up and my doctor was shocked with the loss of weight, thinking I was sick or something, but when I told him what I was doing he said that we can have another look in six months. I’m now eighty nine KGs which I haven’t weighed for over ten years and I also know why I have lost so much muscle in my arms. Ps I haven’t had the discomfort in my chest since the day I stopped statins.

I was having so much trouble rebuilding strength after two recent joint replacements I decided to do my won experiment and get off as many drugs as possible. I dropped the Lipitor, Celebrex, and Lisinopril and doubled down on the ketogenic diet. Got down to a BMI of 20, began rigorous daily exercise, and I feel my muscle tone coming back, I feel far better physically and mentally, more clear, stronger, and sharper. I am working on ridding myself of the last medication - Atenolol. Your shows are fabulously informative and inspirational. I feel I am now taking control of my own health. Statins can cause muscle weakness, diabetes, dementia, and infertility. There is literally no one who should take statins. Yes, I understand that a tiny fraction of people may receive a benefit; however, there are better options (mainly diet) that will produce even better results with fewer side effects. Statins are an example of institutional malpractice.

I had one but she left. The next town is 350 miles away. Most Drs here are rent a docs and are only here 3-4 months. I have an autoimmune problem and carnivore is the best solution. I got my husband from A1C of 10 to 5.1 with diet not with what they wanted. I thought it would be helpful if the Dr gave him a CGM but because I fixed him he was told Medicare wouldn’t approve it. I want him to see the food/drinking chooses would do to him. Thank you for spreading reality. I pass on links to your podcasts. I see poor information on poster all over drs offices and waiting rooms. I sent $25 through PayPal.

I was in so much pain that I thought somehow gluten was hidden in my food, and I didn't know because I felt the same body pain I feel when I eat gluten. Once I stopped my pain went away in 3 days and. On my next visit i told my doctor I stopped taking and would never take again.

Let my just say that i'm so grateful to have found this information very early, I started a statin medication a few weeks ago, and I began having joint/muscle pain within 2 weeks, and thought it was due to menopause, but my intuition told me that it could be the medication because that was the only new thing I was taken. The pain started to bother me that it would wake me up. I stopped the medication. I informed the Dr and she said she didn't think it was the medication.

This video is stunning. I am reminded of a landmark book on this. Fat and Cholesterol Don't Cause Heart Attacks and Statins are Not The Solution Paperback - September 16, 2016 by Paul J. Rosch MD (Author), Zoë Harcombe PhD (Author), Malcolm Kendrick MD (Author), Uffe Ravnskov MD PhD (Author), & 6 more. The book is rather technical and over my head in many cases, but it is right in line with Dr Cywes's presentation here. Thank you for sounding the clarion call here Dr Cywes! And for having the courage to stand up to a multi billion dollar industry in so doing. Might I add, it is a pleasure to be a patient of yours.

Thank you for the information on Lipitor. I stopped taking them after watching a video by Dr Mason. Glad i did as I was diagnosed with T2D (now off metformin) and am in my mid 70’s. I’m also a recovering carboholic. Very interesting info. Thanks

Dr. Cywes this helped me so much to determine if I should continue taking this Lipator that my cardiologist insists on me taking. I had no idea that the side effects included muscle deterioration and that explains to me why after over 2 years of having a heart attack that I still struggle to walk like I used to and have to rest after just an hour of garden work. I have worked hard at my recovery and yet I still don't have full physical strength that I did previously before getting ill. I'm on 7 other medications and I feel like I need to come off all of them but most decisively I need to come off this Lipator.

Great high quality information we can share with our doctors! Especially our elders who already suffer from age related muscle loss (sarcopenia - which can be countered through increasing animal proteins and weight bearing exercise).

I noticed in my Mum that she was having problems walking and managed to convince her to stop taking them. She was about 80 and the drugs were not recommended for people over 75 at that time. She is 95 now and drags me round the shops every week. Her Drs until recently were still trying to get her back on them because her cholesterol is just a bit high. 6 when she supposed to be 5 according to the NHS. Which is totally BS WHEN ALL THE STUDIES I’ve read all say high cholesterol is very good for over 60. I am 8.4 cholesterol and my Dr has started the statin harassment but there is no way I am going to take them. I am totally healthy apart from my cholesterol and they concentrate on that. Crazy.
