Adding Transmission Temp Sensor. We'll need to know how hot things are getting later and this is vital to our adventures later.

    By the time you see the oil in the pan is too hot you may have already smoked the clutches. It's nice to have it there and monitor it, but I like to have one right where the fluid comes off the converter so I can see how hot it is where the work was getting done.

    I like that idea. To make that work do you tap in the outlbound coolant line? I think in the th400 that’s after the converter in the fluid path?

    @@GorhamWorks Yes, the out going line from the transmission, bottom line. Put a 'T' With the temp sender in it as close as you can to the transmission.

    It came in a kit. Holley pn 26-605. Gauge, sensor, and harness.

    I would not run a aluminum transmission pan on the street. Run a steel pan. Better insurance!

    I've ran both at this point. Stamped steel pan worked fine for over a decade. First time I used an aluminum pan though, it dropped the fluid temps. Im going with the keeping them cool, makes them live longer. I've had really good experience with the cast aluminum pans, They seal good, and have held up.
