Ep #26 Stihl chainsaw MS170 cutting fire wood. Countyline Tractor Supply log spitter

As winter approaches its time to hit the woods and cut down some firewood for those long chilly nights. My Stihl MS170 saved the day since my other saw would not start.

I love my MS170, I’ve owned it for about 8 years and it still cuts huge amounts of Australian hardwood. I have also purchased a new MS251C also but find it a bit awkward to use for some reason and keep coming back to my life MS170. Great job buddy, they just keep on going on….

It really helps when people share their experiences as there is a lot of crap out there. The new model is the 171 but it's very similar. That is a small saw, so if you were going to be cutting a lot of firewood, I suggest a bigger model. The more I've studied the subject the more I think the pine is an old wives tale. The key is to make sure that the wood is very dry, no matter what kind. Wet wood produces a dense smoke and will build up creosote in your chimney that can lead to fires. Get a cheap moisture meter from Amazon and learn to use it on wood. If you look on my channel I have videos of me testing firewood moisture.
