Totally relate . I have gone through it . I worked on my child for 12 year . He is quite independent now . I have started doing job and that gives me a guilt that I am not working on him .

Sometimes kids do this to feel more safe. I would suggest working on primitive reflexes around the hand and also doing safe and sound protocol

Check a therapist who is also trained in Sensory integration along with working on activities in sitting. I cannot comment if it is right or wrong as it depends on the goal that your OT is working on.
