Hopefully they have that guy in Australia build it for them because his work is the best work I have ever seen on an aluminum catamaran. He is tig welding the exterior skin because it's a better and cleaner process.

Oh, Cap'n Plukky!! This build is almost beyond belief!! The quality of workmanship going into this boat is awesome! These guys work like ants! Amazing! I'm really enjoying this. This video is one of the best!!❤❤❤ I hope you get to feeling 💯 percent soon! Thanks for showing the market! Hey, I've seen one of them chicken de-feather machines. They're the best thing since sliced bread!! You don't have to sit there and pluck all them feathers!! I was going to say something awful about Cats & Dogs at the market, 🤣🤣, I bet you can guess!! Terrible of me, but just all in fun. Thank You for this one!! Quality People, Top Stuff!! ✝️🙏❤️🇺🇸🇦🇺⛵️👣🍍🍍😊

Excellent progress. That's the way to build a boat, with a full team of skilled workers inside a building with all the tools. By yourself it would take forever... plus 10 years. There are many reasons aluminum is not more popular as a boat building material. Among them is noise, temperature conduction (cold and hot), labor intense construction ($$), etc. But every boat building material has pro's and con's.

A lot of thought and work getting the bow welded. Could bring all the structure back to the first rib and bolt/adhere a sacrificial alloy or composite bow. Would loose a bit of length for rigging but good for manufacturing and small impacts.

I follow Sailing Jupiter and a while back they went back to where their aluminum cat was built. It is an understatement to say that it looked nothing like the high tech systems here. What I wonder is, how do they build something comparable out in a jungle? And if it is not comparable, how does this build vary from Jupiter?

Two things that would make this cat super-awesome are: A) if the aft wall was to become a swing-out swim-platform. That could also double as a dinghy holder. B) if there was a swing-down ladder on the bow so you could just climb down onto the beach or shallow waters. Both items are still doable - it's not too late.

I agree Plukky, Alloy is an outstanding material for sailing safely. Last year in Fiji a beautiful plastic Catamarran hit a reef transiting from Tonga to Fiji, it was torn to pieces and sunk. Thankfully the crew survived. I met three yachts that hit reefs one under full sail. All of the plastic boats had to be hauled out and repaired. I had my own little touch-up with a poorly charted reef in bad light, I Only have a few deep scratches. It's why I own an alloy yacht. You are on the money, and the build is fast.

I haven't checked in with Plucky; figured I'd give him a month or three to work on his boat get used to the grind and then get his butt back to sea. I had mused that I'd build a FAT CAT; two monohulls side by side, and with a winter storm sinking a jewel off my bow on me birthday it appears my luck may find a rising tide. Wish me luck old salts! We can race for beers with 150sqM of sail I have no fear. While I know I won't win I'll still have a shit eating grin, building this beast real nice for the humble price of a box of Tanqueray gin.
