In episode 147 of the podcast, we’re joined by legendary producer, and front man of Be Well and Battery, Brian McTernan. Brian has produced many great records over his career, but today we’re focused on just one - Thrice’s ‘The Artist In The Ambulance’.
Turning 20 this year, this record was one the three of us couldn’t get enough of in the moment, and that sentiment continues today. Brian tells us what it was like working with Thrice, seeing them graduate from indie label to major, and some all time stories surrounding an in genre classic record.

Great interview. Perfect album and definitely with several tracks that would be on my Heavy Therapy rotation. I saw them play with Thursday and Coheed. Thought I was going to die during the Under a Killing Moon breakdown….but in the best way possible. This is one of those albums where you start listening to it and after a only a couple of songs you realize that this is going to be special.
I wanna hear those intial IOS demos the band sent Brian. In the If We Could Only See Us Now documentary the band said they recorded em with a craooy old recorder and put a shirt over it.
