EP:07 Riding Solo to the Black Hills - BDR-X Section 3 Custer State Park
Well it happened! It rained all night. High winds, and a young coyote being curious, made for a night of interrupted sleep. Needless to say, I was feeling a little down to start the day and had to dig deep to find the gumption to carry on. Funny how things just don't go your way when you are feeling low. Even better how things shape up after you address the sadness and get on with it. That is what I tried to do today. Hope you get some enjoyment out of my struggles. ha

Beautiful through there!!!!
Awesome video LRA!
Man these videos are amazing. I really wish we had a BDR-X type of route in eastern KY. I suppose we have a lot of unconnected gravel and double-track like we're seeing here. Just having it from end to end and well connected and cohesive would be incredible. Thanks for making these!

other than the KAT and DBBB, I don't know of many routes in KY to connect these types of roads. West Virginia is very similar in that aspect. Where there are houses, the roads are paved and all the people live the rural hollers. Out west, there is pavement, single track and everything in between, everywhere. Around here it's one or the other it seems. I'll take what I can get until I find out otherwise.
Just finished this ride Monday. First section was simple and fun. Then it rained 9 hours the first night. Slept well but the following 2 days were brutal with the greasy mud and slippery hill climbs. Great adventure overall but I'm sure it was better dry!

What you heard was either a fox or a coyote, hard to tell which without hearing it. Foxes doesn't howl per say, but they have an elongated bark that can sound like a short howl. Coyotes do howl.

I have since listened to sounds of the coyotes in the area and I'm 95% sure it was a coyote. I've never heard them do that in Ohio.
Thanks for taking us along
