it's because if you judge others on things they do, you limit yourself from doing things like that in your personal time and you start to ridicule yourself on it harshly. then you fail to gain the perspective you could've earned from trying to put yourself in the other peoples' shoes. it goes kinda like that. and i know how it feels to realize all of these things at once, so it was beautiful to watch her do it too.

To the guy who was wearing the green polo, saying you "don't know why you said that", is a lie. The reason why you said all those things because you didn't expect them to show up and listen to your criticism and judgement.

This message holds a strong message that i feel like is so so relavant, especially with the internet today where people can just pour out hatred or thoughts in a tweet...or a message in a few seconds. Although it isn’t bad to have an opinion or preference or judgements, making assumptions is or can be a risk. These assumptions come in many different forms and imagine turning this into a comment everybody can see, which can spread like wildfire. The music emphasized the message more, nice touch.

노한나 제가 생각하기에 얼굴평가는 비판이건 칭찬이건 모든것을 다 아울러서 보는것이라고 생각합니다. 칭찬을 했다고 해서 잘한게 아니고, 비판을 했다고 해서 칭찬보다 나쁜게 아닙니다. 듣는 사람이 기분좋게 들을 확률은 좀 높긴 하겠지만 말이죠. 얼평을 아예 안하는것은 거의 불가능합니다. 사람이 사람을 처음으로 대할때 유일하게 상대방을 파악할 수 있는 특징이기 때문이죠. 그것과 별개로 영상에서는 처음부터 상대방에 대한 얼평을 하라고 요구했기 때문에 영상속 인물들에 대한 자기반성을 유도하는 흐름은 좀 부족하다고 여겨질만 하다고 생각해요.

노한나 제작진이 본인의 미의 기준에 맞춰서 바뀌었으면 좋겠다는 부분을 말해달라고 했는데 이건 진짜 개인의 취향에 따라서 솔직하게 말할 수 있는 거 아닌가요? 살을 좀 빼셨으면 좋겠네요, 제 결혼상대로는 부적합할 거 같네요, 머리스타일이 마음에 바뀌었으면 좋겠네요 등등... 만약 얼굴평가만 하라고 하고 그 뒤에 추가적인 말을 안했으면 저렇게 자극적인 영상이 만들어 지진 않았을 거 같네요.

Namdo actually people that have a lot of tattoos if you really know them and talk to them they have a lot of past issues and mental problems that are coming out through the excessive tattooing. It's a form of body mutilation

Cultural context: I see a lot of comments about the "wife material" thing asking "why do they always bring up wife material, don't they know there's more to a person than that, etc." So in Korea, marriage is considered one of the most important things in life. If you're still single by your mid 30s people think there's something wrong with you, and the idea of even not getting married is a really foreign concept (of course there are unmarried people but they get judged hard). But it's not just a thing directed at women, husband material is also incredibly a huge issue in Korea. Wealth, job security, status, all of that factors into marriage when women are looking to date a guy. A lot of women in their mid to late 20s (in mainstream culture) date men based on whether or not they are marriage material. It's not crazy for women to bring up the subject of marriage on the first date either. For a lot of Koreans, almost everything about you is linked to marriage. The way you dress, the kind of tattoos you have, your job security, all comes back to marriage. I would love to see Solfa interview some Korean KZreadrs about this. I know some Korean KZreadrs who can't get girlfriends or have long term relationships with a lot of Korean women because their job is considered too unstable and risky for marriage. So why do Koreans keep bringing up wife material? Because marriage is like one of the most important things in Korea. Very very different from Western standards.

As far as I know you're korean-american if I'm not mistaken. I'm korean korean and I just want to inform you it's not like that anymore here. The culture has been changing rapidly and it's not really a norm everyone wants to get married. Yes a lot of old people still have that conservative mindset but young people have whole different perspective and I would say time of ppl choosing to get married just to satisfy their parents and other ppl has gone now

@@jk-yv1ls Super late, but as an American (not Korean) it's like that here too. Many guys say things like "she's not wife material" all the time! And the marriage culture is similar too. Most people get married but you don't have to (except for some older people who believe heavily in marriage).

I think they’re only probably ashamed of themselves because the other person saw what they said about them- even if they had said nothing they still would’ve had those thoughts just like everyone else does, it shows how you only really feel embarrassed once the other person finds out but not because you had those thoughts in the first place. Idk if this makes sense but it’s how I interpret the video

There's more to that. This video does a lot to show how strong the "screen" is. Anyone can be critical without hesitance when there is a "screen" separating them from whatever they're talking about; what's being looked at isn't in the same space they are. They're talking about something that may as well not be real. This video reminds us that its always real. You participate in it just by talking about it and having an opinion about it. They're not just embarrassed because their opinions were heard, but also that it was their opinions when under the protection of the "screen" was heard. They thought just because what they talked about wasn't on the same side of the screen, their voice wouldn't have any effect whatsoever. But it's not always so simple, and this video just gives a direct way of how.

It makes us think about something that's already happening; it's a demonstration that what we take for granted isn't as innocent as first thought. But that's the thing: it's not because we watch this situation play out that it becomes a problem; it was already a problem. I think that should be a major takeaway.

Michelle H But everyone has his own taste and preferences that’s why you can’t stop judging “in your head” I think it’s very important to notice your judgmental thoughts and push them asides as good as you can. That’s what I call open minded. Everyone is judging automatically and the ones who claim they don’t, just do it unconsciously which isn’t any better in my opinion. 반성했습니다. 어떤 모습을 가지고 있든 그사람과 말 한마디 섞지도 않는채 판단해왔던 제가 멍청한거 같아요 화장쎄게하고 옷도 튀게 입는 사랃들은 막 쎄고 남욕 틱틱 할거 같고 소극적이고 안꾸미는 사람은 소심해 보이고 말 잘 못하는사람 같다고 0.1초 만에 판단이 드는거 같아요 솔직히 첫인상은 외면밖에 볼수있는게 없으니 순간적으로 그렇게 “느낄”수는 있지만 그걸 넘어서 “판단”은 하면 안될것 같네요. 설사 그런 판단이 맞았다고 해도 그건 외면이 이유가 아니라 그냥 그런사람이라 그런거고.. 첫인상으로 그사람의 모든면을 못박아 바리는 습관 정말 안 좋은 습관입니다. 빨리 저도 이 색안경을 던져버리고 싶네요

This video brought back really hurtful memories....I had a bestfriend who would always comment stuff like I went to surprise her with a septum I recently got and when I showed it to her she looked at my nose and said “waste of money if you ask me” and any time I stood face to face with her my smile always dropped because she’d say something about my appearance that didn’t need to be said out loud and I’d always laugh it off and if I brought it up she’d make me feel like I’m being ridiculous by using the excuse “I’d rather you know you look bad then having your hopes high and walking around all confident until you realize you look bad and then you’re sad” and she’d make me feel like she’s the victim and she’s the one always being criticized by me....I finally met a friend who made me realize the shit she was putting me through and I left her and made friends who brought me up and not down
