Well, he needs a world class partner in that midfield, and so many dumb Chelsea supporters do not know that. Kante, Kovacic or whoever may be part of the team that won the Champions league but the world is changing everyday and the quality of midfielders in other teams now may mean that we need to sell at least Kovacic, Loftus Cheek and Gallagher. They at below standard. Then we need to get a quality and complete midfielder to partner Enzo Fernandes alongside Kante. Kante cannot play every game and he is getting older. If we have ambition, then we need to get a better midfielder in that midfield.

Perhaps it will also open the eyes to people that we do need another top class midfielder at the level of Kante/Enzo. With that, we will def start selling our current players as well.

@@EDGoBigorGetLost actually if you look at the level of the midfielders in other teams like Man Utd, Arsenal, City, Spurs, etc you will know that Kante is not even up to the level we really want to be. When we played Real Madrid in the Champions league last season, it was Kante's mistake that made us lose that match at the Bernabeu after going three goals up. So at the highest level at times, Kante is not very good. So we need a top class midfielder who will be starting alongside Enzo, Kante can be part of the team as well as a squad player.

I see the big problem. It’s the coach. He doesn’t know how to use good players. Tuchel would always bring the best out of players. It was a great team. Every player on that team is world class but it’s just the wrong formation and tactic. Same thing with my team sadly😢

something worth mentioning is that Fernández is a versatile player. Sure, he can play as a creative defensive midfielder and is very good at it, with great defensive presence and progressive passsing, as he showed at Argentina and now at Chelsea, but he's also more than capable of playing on an advanced, creative role behind the strikers given his goalscoring and pressing capabilites, as he showed playing in River Plate under Gallardo (scoring 10 goals in 40 games!). I think the World Cup gave people outside of South America a very narrow idea of who he is as a player, but the truth is he played exclusively at that holding midfield role in the World Cup because that's the kind of performance that the team needed. I really hope to see him at that 10 position at Chelsea once Kante comes back.

It is hard to believe the boy is just turning 22yrs. He is a brave progressive accurate passer with a world class vision.

He was worth every penny, think that this kid plays like a beast and he's only 21 years, he played his first WC and won it and earned his place in the main formation. In the years to come he will be among the stars in the Premier League, remember this.

as Arsenal fan, this boy is one heck of a player... not sure i agree that crazy price tag. but he’s world class.

The first match i saw enzo's was against psg, seeing his performance i knew it he going to be worldclass , the worldcup made his price high, every club will love a player like him in midfield for sure

bar the quality of his passes, i see some leadership in what he's doing on the pitch. I think once he's settled in London and learns the language he will be one of the leaders for this team. Also we need a strong def mid next to him, my choice would be Lavia, then Enzo would be allowed to go a bit more forward, we saw what he can do in final 3rd against West Ham, pure quality.

Enzo is definitely a player made for the premier league. Classy on the touch, great range of passing, with good defending, and awareness. Would’ve loved to see him at liverpool.

It is, the passing and how he controls the midfield is absolutely brillant.

Second, Enzo plays with second half players. Third, if you look at his talent here, he never put the ball in the grandstand. He is good as much as a world champion player. Don't forget he played with Messi as nobody do at PSG today. He is a top midfield.

i knew this guy was good from wc (imo he made it to team of the tournament in the occasion, at 22!), but holy is there potential here. incredibly precise and objective passes and tackles, plus he always seem to understand everybody's position in the field. great future midfielder being unveiled!

could really become a top player in his position and he already is a tremendous player, people will whine about the pricetag but that's the price you have to pay for the creme de la creme these days.

Worth every penny. Considering the fact that Chelsea is short of players in that role. He's one for the present and future.

You can see in this video the quality he has. All the right passes to the right person in offensive position. I don't like him as defender midfielder, he should play alongside one so he can play more free without worrying too much about defending (that's where he excelled at Benfica and River Plate), but if he plays there and if the people he passes to can't even finish the plays, his true value won't shine

Caicedo cost £4.5m and is just as effective and does just as good of a job. Palhinha cost £20m and statistically has been the best DM in the PL this season. You don't need to spend big to get quality.

I was at first very skeptical about his arrival and price tag, but my goodness. Enzo is such a baller. Chelsea really missed a Fabregas type of player in the midfield for the past couple of years and it seems like they finally found one. He could've easily had 5-10 more assists if Chelsea had more clinical strikers. Chelsea really need a strong defensing midfielder so Enzo can advance further up the pitch and can focus more on the offensive aspect of the game.
