Enya was born Eithne Ni Bhraonain in Donegal, Ireland. Enya studied classical music at college under private tuition. On leaving college she was asked by Producer Nicky Ryan to join her siblings in their family band. She did so for a short time, but found it too restrictive musically, and so in 1982 she joined Nicky Ryan and Roma Ryan in a creative and business partnership. Enya's first commission was to write a score for Sir David Puttnam for his film "The Frog Prince". Then, the triumvirate secured the soundtrack to the BBC documentary series 'The Celts'. Enya was then signed by Warner Music and all three by EMI Music Publishing. The first album of this contract was "Watermark" with the hit single "Orinoco Flow". This was followed by "Shepherd Moons", "The Memory of Trees", "Paint the Sky With Stars", "A Day Without Rain" which produced the single, "Only Time". Enya also released "Amarantine" and for Lord of the Rings; the Fellowship of the Ring, the songs "Aniron" and "May it Be". Enya, Nicky and Roma were nominated for a Golden Globe Award and for an Academy Award for the song "May it Be" and have also merited many other nominations and awards, including the Ivor Novello for International Achievement. The latest honours bestowed on Enya were two Honorary Degrees, the University of Galway honoured her with Doctor of Music and the University of Ulster honoured Enya with Doctor of Letters.

When I was 22, I went by first time alone in 1989 to a virgin valley in Andorra. I take with me this Enya album and put with headphones. Watching mountains and listen music was an experience unforgetable. So when I listen this theme nostalgia cames to me deeply. Memories never lose. Thanks for video.

Hi there from a Aussie. Just listening to Enya now looking at photo's of myself back in 1989 as a 20 year old when I went to the USA 1st time with a group of volunteers. Friend of mine took a Enya tape and we shared the tape while we where on the plane (NO screens in thoughts days, only 1 tv screen everyone had to watch🤣). Enya music reminds me of flying ✈

Grazie Enya!

When it comes to listening to Enya's songs, the only one that consistently comes to mind is Watermark. This song could almost be the atmosphere for looking at rivers, waterfalls and other scenery while trying to reflect on issues and areas of the day. Also because it is instrumental.

I moved to Ireland 3 years ago. When people were asking me why Ireland? I couldn´t give a proper answer. However, today I realised how many connexions I had in my early days with the country. I used to listen to Enya, Sinéad O'Connor, U2 a bit... I also was writing some poems at the age of 10 (1987) and stopped in 1991, but kept writing something here and there. So, guess what? I mentioned her songs in some of them. Thank you Enya for such a beautiful voice and work. You are brilliant!!!!

I have no idea why but this song makes me sob (happy emotional sob) This song makes me feel an emotion I cant really describe, its like being heart broken but happy and homesick for a place I've never been and cant even tell you the name of. Didn't realize how much I love Enya
I have to mention that I saw beautiful clouds today when I was driving back from PA and while my parents were listening to a podcast, I had this song in my head while I was looking at the clouds in Connecticut and I saw a cloud that kinda looks like a friend that used to go to my school that I miss and I was crying and imagining this song in my head. Unfortunately that friend had to go to another school. This song also reminds me of 2 the former maintenance staff at my schools and their names were Mr and Ms C Chapman. Mr Chapman passed away last year in 2020 and Ms C Chapman passed away last summer. I really missed both of them because they both did a good job back in the day even though Mr Chapman retired in 2012 before I went to this school I currently go to.
Its tears for me, immediately when this song begins to play.
