Your right on about the feelings brought on from old letters that were written by family - my dad recently sent me a letter from the late 1800's that was written by my great grandfather to my great mother the night they become engaged. My great grandfather worked for the railroads in Atlanta doing telegraphs and he typed it up on 4 sheets of telegraph paper - he must have had to go to work that night after proposing to her. I have never read such a love letter in my life - I couldn't believe my eyes - I printed up a scan of it - in it's faded colors and all and I carry it with me everyday. It actually brought me to tears. My grandmother was 1 of 4 children born to these great grandparents of mine - she was born in 1902. In 1907 my great grandfather died of a burst appendix - something people generally don't die of today. My great grandmother raised all those young children as a widow. The letter must have been held on tight by my great grandmother for decades and decades until she died in the early 1960s. The letter was folded up in a way that it was worn from being folded and opened repeatedly - she must have cherished it so much and held it close for it to have survived all those years. She never remarried. My great grandmother must have passed it down to my grandmother and then my dad got it. This letter is priceless to me - worth so much more than any material thing I own. I also have a box of postcards and cards that both sets of my grandparents wrote to me as a kid when they traveled around and cards they sent on birthdays - my grandparents are long gone now but on rough days sometimes I rummage through them. Beautiful envelopes - I need to learn how to make them so all my letters have a pretty place to live instead of being in a box.

This is so lovely! My husband were apart for 11 months before we got married. We were on internship in college. We saw each other one time that year, wrote 3 letters a week and of course mailed them as it was 1980-81. We planned our wedding before we left and got married a week after we returned. We even recorded some cassette tapes to each other. Calling from island to island was way too expensive and this was before cell phones and email. I wish we had saved all the letters.

I can only imagine what treasures your cassettes tapes are, it would be a great anniversary present to create a set of your own heirloom envelopes where you go back in time and reconnect with the wonderful memories between your husband :) thank you so much for sharing my sweet friend! I loved hearing your story!

I am sure that I am like many, I will watch this video over and over. Kind of like a great dessert....one just can't stop with one piece. I can only hope that some day I will create pieces as lovely as you. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us to think outside our own scope of creation. I shop second hand stores and antique stores for letters and cards such as the ones you have been blessed to see that belonged to your parents....I truly can't imagine.....and when I sit and read these letters or cards I visualize the setting in which the sender and receiver are in.....and try to bring them to life. In some cases I can't imagine a family not wanting to hold on to these valuable precious mementos. Perhaps they do not know of these vintage journals that we create....and do no realize there is a medium to display and flip thru and take a walk down memory lane. Which is one reason I love to share "what a junk journal is" with folks that have not heard of them. One of my most precious ones is of tidbits from my childhood, with my parents....stories....hopefully as I grow old I can glance back at these memories with much love. You are gifted....and I thank you for sharing your talent with us.

This is fantastic, I love the envelope art so much! My favorit would be the 'grandmother's love envelope set'. My grandmother was very special to me. When I was 8 years old, I was very ill and wrote a letter to my grandmother, asking if she would come and visit me. Which ofcourse she did... She died on my 18th birthday and I inheritated her coffee cabinet. And in one of the drawers there was my letter... I still have it. In the other drawer there were several nail scissors and I noticed they were all different. That's when my scissors collection started... Thank you for sharing your beautiful work of art, Loes

I am making envelopes, and what a good idea you gave me! I went through my antique fabric stash and added my great grams favorite fabrics and some bias seam tape! She was a make do lady from the 20's and 30's! Her quilts are favorite family heirlooms, nice to add a piece or two in my journal! Thank you! What a wonderful tutorial!

Hello! I stumbled across your channel a couple of days ago and left the window open since I wasn't able to watch right away. I did have a chance to hear a bit of the intro and was magnetized! Later...settled in with coffee to watch and I have to tell you I'm spellbound! Gorgeous designs and such inspiration. Love the mix of papers, fabric and beading. I have two favorites, first choice would be Bohemian Dreams as it reminds me of my little gypsy sister who seemed to always be so free and lackadaisical! I miss her and know she's what inspires my love for vintage, whimsical, fabric and paper art! She was always a wanderer and I was the one that needed an address! It so resonated with me and took me to that happy place. Ocean's Apart with the beautiful blues, fishing and mermaid adventure. Fantasy is so much fun at any age...don't you think!? Your work is stunning and has such a peaceful calming effect on me. So glad I found you and look forward to going back to review videos and forward to see the fabulous journey to come! Good Day! Debbie from East Texas

What a divine presentation! Your work is sublime. The Grandma's journal absolutely invaded my soul. All of your collections really touched me. But, sewing, letters to a granddaughter in exquisite paper art!!! Wow! I will never have a granddaughter, but this was my dream. In those dreams, her name was Katherine Elizabeth. I wanted to teach her about the things I love. I create Victorian crazy quilts. I had hoped to teach her the intricate embroidery and beadwork. I even had fabric and lace saved for her. Maybe too fantastical, but dreams keep me going. I can't wait to take your classes. You are such an inspiration.🌹

So many wonderful memories are flooding into my thoughts as I watch you sharing your beautiful pages. Like your parents, my husband and I fell in love through the mail. I kept all the letters he sent me over the 2 years we wrote and my daughter found them. Like you, it brought her to a very different appreciation for our story over the nearly 45 years together. Then the relationship with my beautiful grandchildren, so special...AND we share journal gifts! The most recent on our family vacation. The next journal is the one I am working on for my granddaughter turning 16 this year, it will be so special. Truly overwhelming emotions. Hopefully this all makes sense!! Thank you Nazy, such authentic love and genuine passion comes through in everything you share. XO

Nazy, what joy! Love the sentiment of the letters from the Grandmother to her granddaughter, the hope of the Bohemian Dream letters, but having just lost my Dad, the idea of letters to a daughter touched me in a special way. Can’t wait for the class. Crafty xoxo Michelle

Beautiful! It's hard to chose a favorite. They are all so beautiful. But the two that spoke to me the most was the Oceans apart because I love blue and I was very close to my Dad. He passed away recently and I miss him very much. This is a great idea to keep the little mementos he has gifted me and to write down my memories of him. I have been going through those memories in my mind a lot lately. (Now I am going to change the subject before I cry.) And the Parisian love is also one that speaks to me. My grandmother was born and raised in Paris. She was such a elegant and beautiful person. She had a wonderful style. So anything Parisian tugs at my heart.
