Entra ID! Azure AD is no more

Ғылым және технология

Ladies and gentlemen, today we have an exciting announcemen with Microsoft Entra. As part of Microsoft's ongoing efforts to simplify secure access experiences, Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) will now be known as Microsoft Entra ID.
Last year, Microsoft introduced Microsoft Entra as the new name for all its identity and access products. Azure AD became a vital component of the Microsoft Entra product family, which also includes two new offerings: Permissions Management and Verified ID. Over time, the Microsoft Entra product family expanded to include Identity Governance, External Identities, and Workload Identities.
By renaming Microsoft's flagship cloud identity product, Azure AD, to Microsoft Entra ID, and bringing all identity and secure access products under the Microsoft Entra umbrella, Microsoft aims to simplify the usage of its capabilities for security teams. This unified approach will enable better protection for various identities and access points. Moreover, the name "Microsoft Entra ID" aligns more closely with Microsoft's multicloud, multiplatform strategy, as an increasing number of customers embrace Microsoft's identity solution to securely connect their applications and resources.
Those who are currently using Azure AD or are in the process of deploying it within their organizations can continue to use the service seamlessly. All existing deployments, configurations, integrations, as well as capabilities and features, will remain unaffected.
The pricing, licensing plans, and service level agreements for Azure AD and Microsoft 365 plans including Azure AD will remain unchanged. Only the display names for the service plans will be modified.
To ensure a smooth transition, Microsoft will not be making any changes to the code that would impact functionality or disrupt your work. For example, existing login URLs, APIs, PowerShell cmdlets, and libraries within the Microsoft identity platform, such as Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL), will remain the same.
Following a 30-day notification period starting on July 11, 2023, the name change will gradually roll out across various Microsoft experiences. The display names for SKUs and Service Plans will be updated on October 1, 2023. Microsoft anticipates completing most of the name text string changes in Microsoft services by the end of 2023.

You have to rename something every 2 or 3 months! But hey, at least it is not the Oracle cloud interface!

Do you think the existing Azure AD logo is better? If so, why?
