We need to know the religion of the patient so as to not hurt any sentiments of their faith/ belief/ practices. Jehovah's Witnesses does not allow blood transfusion, Islam may not allow grafts from certain animals etc.

Taking complete history is always necessary (this is what we are taught in medical school, how much of this is done in real I doubt too) 😊
