The only band to ever make me want to go on a spiritual journey.

I first came upon Enslaved with Below the Lights less than a year ago. It’s such a specific combination of black metal and Pink Floyd. On paper it sounds strange, but they just do it and it works. I can’t be the only one who identifies so strongly with Enslaved.

Imagine their surprise and confusion when they come back from work and just want to toast some bread while listening to Enslaved. Please don't do that.

After all, Enslaved is my love at first sight. I remember three years ago, I was looking for something unusual and unsoiled - and when my favorite label Nuclear Blast was broadcasting summer clips during Covid - I heard this AMAZING band! It was as if I found myself in the time of the Vikings, but not just in a historical era, but in that time, some kind of fabulous and parallel, in which EVERYTHING is possible. And every year, with each song, Enslaved pleases me and their fans with an increasingly fresh and unusual sound, which takes out from the depths of the soul such feelings that hitherto unknown, come to life and lift into unknown worlds.

When this song breaks into that end part my soul leaves my body

In the early 2000s when I was first introduced to black metal Enslaved was among the first I had heard a long with Mayhem, Emperor and Immortal. I still love all these bands today, but Enslaved I think has grown so much and become a band that though first discovered as a teenager has followed with me into adulthood. I hope so much that when I am 60 Ill be listening to Enslaved 30th studio album and be saying to myself "this fuckin rips." Seriously though listen to their discography they dont have a bad album. There are albums that are better because of time and place, and youthful energy for sure. But nothing in the discography is half assed or second rate, they are such a great band nd influence to musicians in exterme metal genres.

@William HELLHASEYIS - The irony is that if you closed your eyes and heard this song for the first time, it could be Behemoth (until Grutle's vocals kick in)... God jul, metalheads.

I saw these guy open for Tim Ripper Owens in Ontario a few years back. While Ripper’s version of “Locked In” was the evening’s highlight, this band surely held their own.

A lot of black and/or atmospheric metal has a slow and a fast tempo thing going on at the same time. And a lot of it is played discordantly too.
