I always liked A-Rod, he was one of the best shortstops of all time. When he played on those Mariners teams you could tell he was something really special. True five tool player who was one of the top three hitters in the game for nearly a decade, and arguably top 10 historically. Extremely talented, extremely. He obviously deserves it, but I don't think there is a chance unfortunately especially when he has negatives Clemens and Bonds don't. He admitted to steroid use, 162 ban for his role in the Biogenesis scandal, he got busted after testing was put in place and was caught lying about it each time. The fact remains is that he used PEDs. At this point, the writers have not let anybody in his situation into the Hall, so that makes him quite a long shot. I do wish he would have come clean, and not lied. It is a shame how it all played out.

This has to be figured out but it’s tough. The process is too inconsistent. Why does Ivan Rodriguez get in? There were stories about him and he was mentioned in Canseco’s book. If Palmeiro had been smart enough to stop using he would’ve been inducted without any suspicion. How do you determine how much PEDs contributed to a player’s success? Either we should just induct everyone or we should hold all players to the same standards.

Arod never failed a test, he was suspended by an independent investigatory arm thought it was right to gollow on leads regarding Braun's failed test, at worst it was unconstitutional and at best targeting AROD, and he shouldve probably been protected by his union. I am a Yankee fan, Jeter is my favorite player, but if were talking baseball, A Rod was sooooo much better clearly. You cant write yankee history without Jeter and you cant write that dynasty without him, BUT you cant write about 90s and 00s baseball without Arod. What is the purpose of the hall of fame if the people who defined the era arent in? Manny Bonds A Rod Sosa and McGwire were clear first ballot players on the eye test, who had everyones dreams and fears whenever were in the box. I love Jeter but he was never that, the totality of his career makes Jeter first ballot, when he was breaking his bones, people questioned if he even deserved to be in ARod's class or Nomar and later Tejada. Clearly a lot of that thinking was wrong but thats what people thought who were involved in that era, were simply not letting the best players in.

Therefore if Bud Selig is in the HOF then all of these other guys who have the stats and the numbers should be there too, even if they took PED’s. But you create a new wing in the HOF that only houses these guys and you tell their stories, so the next generation of players can learn from that history. Don’t hide it. Oh and on another note, Pete Rose, who played the game clean needs to go in the HOF, like yesterday. Smh.

MLB (and everybody for that matter) knows that PEDs saved baseball in the late 90s. Then they threw these players under the bus once MLB didnt need them anymore. Put them all in the HOF for their service to the sport. And while we're at it, put Pete Rose in too.

Thank you! I think people sometimes over exaggerate the effect of PED’s. If you have zero coordination and can’t hit a ball if your life depended on it, then PED’s are not going to all of a sudden make you more coordinated. If you can’t aim to pitch a strike, yes, you’ll throw harder but you’ll be walking a lot of hitters. Smh.

I love reading all of the comments below. Seems like the majority of folks here in this comment section generally agree that PEDs or not, A-Rod was a clear generational talent that had all the tools to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest baseball player ever. With 3k hits, a few shy of 700 homers multiple mvps and a title and golden gloves, me personally, it would be ridiculous not to put a man with such accomplishments in. But that’s me. In the end, whether he gets in or not, he is top 10 on most ppls personal lists of greatest players ever

I would use that argument when people say he's the goat because of what you just said me personally I don't have him as the goat I think it's Willie Mays BUT the greatest I've SEEN before injuries would have to be Ken Griffey Jr it would have been Barry bonds before ped's and that's based on their skills not skin color or background. I would love to hear about babe going against Satchel Paige, man what. I'm just trying to connect that (racism part) with someone that has cheated using ped's.
