    You can't opt out of Medicare Part A and continue to receive Social Security retirement benefits. If so, you'll have to pay back all the benefits you've received so far to opt out of Medicare Part A.

    Here is a question: I am getting cataracts done in a hospital. How much do I pay out of pocket for Part A? This will be as an outpatient. TIA

  • @BoomerBenefits

    @BoomerBenefits

    Жыл бұрын

    Since this is an outpatient surgery, it would fall under Medicare Part B and not Part A. You would first pay the Part B deductible, $233 in 2022, and then 20% coinsurance. If you have a Medigap plan, it will help cover the 20%. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, you will need to look at your plan's Summary of Benefits to know your cost-sharing amount. Be sure to check out our KZread video, Does Medicare Cover Cataract Surgery?

    I have enjoyed your series and have learned a lot. My advisor says since I am in Florida that I should choose an Advantage plan over original Medicare. I always thought the opposite but three advisors say otherwise. What is your opinion?

  • @BoomerBenefits

    Medicare Supplement plans tend to be expensive in most parts of Florida. Additionally, the Advantage plans offered in FL tend to be very comprehensive and can actually be great plans for many FL residents. However, the right plan for you will depend on your budget, lifestyle, and medical needs. Feel free to give our team a call at 817-249-8600 and we'd be happy to help you find the right plan for your needs! We also have a video on FL advantage plans if you'd like to search for that video in our channel. :)

    Hi: I am employee of HHSC having over 1000 employees. I completed 65 Years and enrolled in Part A Medicare. My spouse works for a voluntary organization with 6 employees on W2. She is currently covered under my insurance. In next year turns to 65. But like me she also would like to work till 70 Years. Can she continue on my insurance with out enrolling in Part B? As Part A any how is free. Please suggest.

    Hi there! Yes, as long as you actively work for an employer with 20+ employees, and that insurance covers your spouse, she can delay Part B past 65 like you did, with no penalty.
